I am aware that there is no experimenting with clothing. But, does this mod do anything at all? I have seen people buyingSEAs with this modand find myself wondering why. lol. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Well, there is the wookiee armor segment (or whatever it's called), that can be experimented on, so maybe that's why they are buying it.

I've been meaning to buy up some Experimentation CAs just for the "prestige" of calling myself a 12-point Tailor. The funny thing is how much people want to charge for them given their current worth. (I imagine most CA hunters in the know just destroy them.)

Just the wookie armour padding, but There is allways the possibiliy that more items will be added, or we will be able to experiment for sockets (pray it never happens), so people buy them for that reason sometimes.

I personally bought them just incase i need the experiment someday, and as an excuse to spend some money, as a pure tailor ive amassed a tidy sum, with my only expenditures being resources/schematics/components for clothing, and maintenance on structures. Gotta spend my profits on something i guess

12 pt means you have 12 experimentation points. I believe you have 10 pts at master, and you can get the other 2 bybuying the apron (+5) and a total of +15 others in Clothing Attachments. For each +10 you have you get one experimentation point. 12 is the max you can have.

There is also the possibility that the people buying these isn't aware that the bonus will not help them. Heck, a month back, this would have been me. I have seen several vendors (around Starsider anyway) selling clothing attachments that increase the clothing experimentation mod. At first it really REALLY got me angry... as I assumed the people selling the skill tapes knew that they were pricing a useless item at 20k hoping some poor unsuspecting (lucky but rich) noob would waste his money on it. Then, thinking a bit more rationally, I realized that the person selling the skill tape probably wasn't aware that they are useless.

However... I have begun my own crusade against the clothing experimentation skill tape. Whenever I come across one that I can afford to buy (I'm not a combatative character, so I don't get them in drops) I destroy it. And, if clothing experimentation comes back in the future, well... those skill tapes remaining will be worth more.

The tapes are not useless if you actually like sitting with a AS and making wookie padding toher specs. especially if you get armour as payment. Same way that the chef i deal with gives me food for trim etc.

Hmm I don't see a point in buying something just to destroy it. There are a lot of people who do not find it useless. Unless you wan't to control how many future 12 point tailors are on your server once, and if those things become more in demand.

This isn't a flame, so please don't take it as such, but destroying items in the game just because YOU think they're useless?

Doesn't make sense to me...

And I happen to be a Wookiee Tailor and would love to make really great Armor Padding for really great Wookiee armor. We need more of that in the wookiee community.

They are worthless, and the people selling them simply do not know they are worthless.

Sure some can argue that they are valuable for wookie armor, and for that I concur. If you happen to be one of the minute population of people that this is true for then, they are obviously not totally worthless, simply dubious in their worth.

However you slice it though, they arent worth what most people are charging for them, armor padding will never be worth the cost of the tapes it takes to make it to 12pts of experimentation...unless your in the habit of selling simple armor padding for thousands and thousands of credits.

They actually aren't useless though not for the reasons you think. There is currently a bug that SEAs with 2 different bonuses, only the highest one will "stick". So if you're a chef, like me, and you have a +4 Food Experimentation/+8 Clothing Experimentation SEA and I put it into an item of clothing, only the +8 Clothing Experimentation would show up. However, if you put in ANOTHER SEA with an equal orhigher number (assuming you have 2 or more sockets), it will cancel the other one out and the lower one will show up. So if I had that SEA with +4 Food Experimentation/+8 Clothing Experimentation I'd be looking everywhere for a +8 or higher Clothing Experimentation SEA so that I'd be able to use the +4 Food one For this reason even the SEAs that don't do anything can still be useful to someone.

Hope that helps!
