One thing I really hate about this profession is you can not sell items in a set.

I would love to see you be able to group an outfit, Jacket, Shirt, Pants, whatever ya have into a single set item. Then be able to sell that set item on a vendor as a single sale.

People should then be able to get the details on the item in the vendor and see what items are included in the set.

We keep floating it, and it keeps sinking without a response.

This is already on the wishlist. Hopefully we will see somekind of response soon.

Great idea! At the moment, though, I'd be content with being able to sell items in containers from my vendor. It's almost impossible to keep up with all of the custom orders I'm receiving via e-mail. I can't stay online 24/7, so vendors are the only reasonable way of offering a pickupservice to customers. I have around 15 custom orders just sitting on my floor right now.

Has anyone found a better way to manage custom order pickups?

Try putting a vendor upstairs or in the basement (hide it behind a bookcase or locker or something even) and hopefully there's less chance some shmoe will happen across it ... especially if you have well stocked vendors in a more accessible place.

Of course then you have the fun of dealing with the replies from customers that say they couldnt find it ... but anyway...

Well, I've actually seen this done, to a very limited extent, but the solution is less than ideal.

On my server several times I've seen people sell backpacks on the bazar filled with various things. For example, I saw someone put a backpack on the bazar, and call it "Han Solo Pack" and in the description go on to say that it included ribbed pants, formal shirt, cdef pistol etc. etc. I have a chef friend who used this mechanism once or twice to group together "sampler collections" of food and sell them. And I bought a backpack one time on the bazar filled with spices one time. Like I said, this is not ideal since you can't even verify what is in the backpack, and it will show up under wearable container, not what you are actually selling, but it may be the best tool we have now to accomplish this.

This is also another method one could use to solve the other problem someone mentioned come to think of it. Put a backpack called "To Joe" on your vendor and all the items in the order with it *shrug* might just work.

I used to do this because it was the only real way of handling the pickup of special orders, but it's been nerfed. All of the items inside of a pack disappear when it's purchased from a vendor.This was done so that people wouldn't be able to store items inside backpacks on their vendors anymore. But what stops people from storing items on vendors outside of backpacks? They just need to list items individually now. This entire mess is a horribly thought out solution which doesn't even fix the problem it was supposed to solve.

Ah well, sigh. I have a ton of special orders sitting in backpacks in my shop right now. People have different playing schedules, so I don't really see myself being able to hand these orders to their buyers anytime soon.

What I've done has worked very well for me. As I make each item, I mark it with red html code... the same format that is used in coloring house signs... and then the person's name and item name.

For example:

\#ff0000\{Customer1} Casual Shirt
would yield
{Customer1} Casual Shirt
And it is listed that way on my vendor. Stands out very nicely.

I have an information item priced at 100000credits that explains not to buy items in red unless specifically made for you. It is easy for the customer to spot his/her item on the vendor since there are few choices in red. I've not had a problem with anyone buying things that aren't theirs. If they do, I know who did it from the vendor sale email and can ask them about it and ban them from my house if it becomes a problem. But I have never had to do this.
