NOTE: I first posted that on http://www.swgxpansions.net/but now I want to post it here too just to get your answers about this idea, by the way join SWGxpansion and try making the game better with your ideas!

So what we got here in SWG right now?

Two Master Tailors are EXACTLY the same thing, skill points are the same, colors are the same and clothes are the same, there is NO difference between a Tailor and another Tailor
(it applies to all the classes but this idea is for Tailors so i'ma post it here)

TAILORING COURSES

Now, Devs tried to make it, we got Casual, Field wear, Formal, but everybody can take 'em all and become a Tailor, so there is no difference between two TRUE (Mastery) Tailors

I've been thinking about Courses

Let's say we got 10 additional courses, we can pick like 2 or 3 of them, can't pick 'em all of course, and each Courses grant you something, like:

Wookiee Clothings: A course that grant you additional Wookiee clothings, of course

Twi'Lek Clothings: More Lekku stuff here

Trandoshan Clothings: Got Trandoshan GLOVES and BOOTS here

Tailoring Mastery Course: More colors and additional Assembly, Experimentation points

See? They could make for starting a Course for each race, of course those clothing will be race-only, like the wookiee/twi'lek clothings we already got, we could get some nasty Mon Cal headwear here, ehehehe

And then add special courses for factions!

Rebellion Uniforms: Allow a Rebel Tailor to make TRUE Rebellion Uniforms

Empire Uniforms: Same as above, but for Imps

And then even more courses for different terrain situations!

Desert Clothings: Guess what?

Camouflage Clothings: A whole set of new Camouflage clothings

Cold Weather Clothings: A brand new set of cold weather clothings, from cold weather dusters to reinforced snow mountain boots and so on...

Get it? It's easy

Now with the fun part, let's say there are like 10 courses, they could make it like a Novice Tailor can take ONE course, a Tailoring IV Tailor can take an additional ONE course and maybe a Master Tailor can take TWO more courses

This way there would be a BIG difference from Master Tailor to Master Tailor

How to get a course?

Let's say you have to go to 5 lessons...
Go to the University 5 days in a row (you know there is an in-game clock CTRL-SHIFT-G) and spend like 50 apprentice points everytime

Once you've been to all the lessons you get the Course you wanted )

Interesting idea, but I disagree. First of all, I think that anything giving extra colors should be available to all tailors, not just a few who pick it as some kind of elective choice. It would be kind of pointless, because at least 90% of tailors would take the extra colors, leaving us only one or two real choices of the extra things.

Giving extra schems that aren't a part of the tailoring tree is a great idea. But I think these kinds of things should be quest rewards. I feel very strongly that any tailor who really wants to focus 100% on tailoring should be able to get all the schematics (except possiblythings like racial or factional clothing). Making schematic quest rewards would mean that any tailor who was really determined and worked very hard would eventually be able to get them all. And hopefully they'd finish all the quests just in time for the next round of them added by the devs.

There would still be a difference between Master Tailors, because some people wouldn't do all the quests, and those who wanted to would do them in a different order. Some of the quests should be relatively easy, so lower level tailors could take a break from the grind and actually get something that benefits their profession. But some of the quests should be very difficult. They should be based on a lot of different skills, there should be surveying and crafting missions, but also some combat. Of course those of us with horrible combat skills could get a friend (or pay someone) to help us complete them.

As we all know (because of the tailor/armorsmith bug) our crafting tools can only handle a limited amount of schematics. Which is why I think we need a way for all crafters to choose what appears in their crafting tool. We'd especially need this if tailors got lots of extra schems. Ideally, we would be able to delete schematics from our crafting tools.

This wouldn't mean that we'd lose the ability to make those items, there could be some kind of schematic terminal that we'd be able to buy for our houses. Maybe one of those terminals could be a requirement, we'd have to own one that's placed in either a house or PA Hall before we can start deleting schems. So we could use the terminal to sort of check in and out schematics from our crafting tools. I could delete the Casual Shirt schematic, but then if I ever needed to make one again, I'd have to go back to my house and pull it back out of the terminal. That way, every Master Tailor who did enough of those schematic quests would no longer be able to carry all their schems on them at the same time. That would also work to make all the Masters a little more different from each other. We'd all be more specialized.

That's just a rough idea I've been thinking about lately, I'm sure there are tons of problems with it. But I'd much rather see something like that than a kind of program where we just chose some extra classes. Like I said, I think if someone is willing to spend the time working at it, we should all be able to eventually get almost all the schematics. Plus, I like action. I'd rather spend a couple days doing some missions than go sit in a class.

While this is a good idea....

I stand by the wonderful idea (not sure who thought of it first) of a special schematic (with expiration date or maximimum items crafted) tobe looted off of monsters/NPC's.

The list of good reasons for that sort of thing could go on and on...

1. there would be some "loot" to actually look forward to

2. the items craftable with the schematic wouldn't just be any old thing that anyone can make once they've reached whatever certain skill.

3. these tailored items would have a "rarity" to it.

4. no extra skill points would need to be used

5. no extra skill trees would need to be made

and so on and so on.

Just to get a bit realistic but how could you find schematics by killing a person, in a loot?

A schematic like that should be some reward when ending some mission, then I think I'd love it!

Sure Quests are a good way to earn those extra Courses, good idea, but they better think about fun missions or it would have been better to visit a place 5 times instead )

But I don't think there should be any chance to get so many Courses, I mean the whole point here is to make everybody different from each other

This feature could apply to ALL classes, they could add special Courses to all the classes, like WeaporSmith, ArmorSmith and so on... but the POINT is to make people different, so to get all the Courses should not be possible

You know, you can make it as hard as you want but everybody will have 'em all in a little time if you let them do it.

I love the idea of mission rewards too, but they're not necessarily less realistic than loot. Maybe the NPC you killed was delivering a schem to a fictional NPC tailor? Maybe they did the mission themselves? Maybe the NPC is actually a tailor? There have to be some Swooper tailors, that's how the rest of them get their clothes!

But I'd rather see them be quest rewards also. Just pointing out that lootisn't really super-unrealistic.

Sure, not super, ehehe, you see I'd prefer to actually have clothes and weapons when looting NPCs, right now you kill them and nobody knows where the weapon went

But the idea of having Tailors and other kind of classes as NPS is a great one, they just need to have the appropriate tag above their head, so you know you're killing a tailor, and they should stay in outposts, not hunting around
