Do they just look different or are there real differences in packs?

Functionally they are the same. Each one in the progression, however (travel, military, tech, bounty-hunter, special ops... hope I got the order right) requires more materials and training to produce, and is thus less common than those preceeding it. You pay a premium for a better look that not as many people have access to.

It would be really nice if they added about 10 slots per level. Oh well.

I'm going to disagree. They should stay having the same level. As time goes on inventory control is going to be a bigger and bigger issue and if one pack holds more than the others, then we might as well just delete the other models because nobody will use them.

It always irked me in EQ that I had to give up really nice looking gear or a weapon for something that looked totally cheesy, but was better in stats. Backpacks in this game are likely to be of the kind of importance that if they scaled up, everyone would have the same top end model.

A better option would be to allow experimentation to add space.

considering that packs and inventory space is bugged right now, i don't think packs should be allowed additional space at all until they fix it completely...and if they do allow additional space it should be only 1 or 2
