Here I am. I'm going to be a tailor. Woo! I pick casual wear because I want to make those bustiers. I get to tier 3, and make bustiers and cloaks...put em on the market, sell em at the cantina. I am making money! I rock! Then the orders start to pour in...I can no longer skill grind because I am answering questions and making custom things all day. So I get this bright idea--I will make a special /afk message!!

Day one:

/afk Hi! Thank you for your interest in BlodieWear! Please come see my shop on Tatooine, n2200 n6000. If you do not see what you need, please send me a tell and I will be happy to make it for you!

Day two:

/afk Good Morning! Sorry I got booted from the servers last night! I restocked the vendors with the most requested items, so come on out and see what I have! My stock changes daily as I level up!

Day three:

/afk Hi! Please visit my store at n2200 n6000 and see what I have in stock...if I do not have it on display I probably cannot make it yet. I'm working on it tho! Send me an email if you need to contact me

Day four:

/afk I have been unable to log on for the last 3 nights after 6pm so I am very behind in my skills! In effort to keep up with my competition, I will not be taking any custom orders until I make a little progress. Please send me an email if you need to get ahold of me, or visit the store!

Day five:

/afk Last night's lockdown shut off my harvesters and of course, I could not get on....I'm sorry! I also seem to be unable to pull any cloth from a crate, which means nothing new or cool. No orders until further notice. Thank you for you support...store is open meanwhile

Day six:

/afk Hi. Me here. NO I HAVE NOT GOTTEN MASTER TAILOR YET!!! if you need a fleshwrap or bikini go see Amy or Betty or one of the other master tailors on this server. She charges 15k for a leotard? She should, since she apparently has no life, job, kids, dog, need to sleep, need to eat, and has a very nice internet connection. Yay for her. Leave me the heck alone. You have described the weekend just past, making custom made outfits in the middle of Bestine was like pulling teeth! Godbless all my customers who didn't shout at me and waited patiently for their ensemble while I cried furiously at whichever factory crate I was needing something from!

on another note, is there a way of saving afk messages, mine seems to disapear all the time..?

Yeah, myself I'm pissed too my all these /tells asking if I'd be master tailor. If the factory XP would work correctly, I might be one or two skillboxes further than I am right now, but currently I have to grind(!) to compensate that bug. And the grind starts to get on me.

I logged in at 6 and had 10 emails for orders and my entire stock had sold out in the few hours after Wanderhome came back up. I had to fend off three customers just to get out the door to get to my now decaying harvestors. All night I was doing nothing but custom orders until I finally extricated myself at 10:30.

What a zoo! I love it! This is the most fun I think I've ever had in a game.

(There's a bug with factory experience? I sit in my house with it next doorand it rolls in. Server specific?)

The "are you a master tailor?" tells always make me chuckle, because most people say that before contacting me they used the community search. So I always remind them that the search always shows a character's title as well when they're looking for a certain profession, and suggest if they're looking for a master then searching for a title that says "Master Tailor" will save them a little time. I'm pretty clearly listed as "Kara Vasa the Novice Tailor." I'd understand getting tells like that a little more if I had any of the skill lines maxed and had a different, less-recognizable title, but I'd think that a Novice Tailor should pretty obviously not be a Master Tailor...

Haha, exactly the way it's been for me. I've been so busy, and I'm loving every minute of it. I just wish I didn't have to include "I'm sorry, the color RED does not exist for tailor-made clothes at this time" to my message. =/

I just hit novice myself the other day and couldn't believe the ammount of tells I got on that first day. It was every half hour 'hey can you make gunman dusters?' lmao. **edit** everyone wants one.

Anyway, I'm not nearly as concerned with leveling up as some poeple I suppose, I've yet to gain my first skill. I don't grind so thats probably the reason behind it. Even still I do several thousand credits a day in sales, enough to keep my harvesters going and keep a couple of each item in my vendor/merchant hehe. It's funny, IRL cloths are the last thing on my mind. As a typical guy it's just not something I really care about, but in game I have a blast outfitting people and setting up my store.

You complain about the grinding master crafters, then state that you are not taking orders to level up in your skills....seems hypocritical to me. Myself, I don't make anything unless I have a buyer, and my skills show that. If you are a grinder, which you are, don't complain about those who grind better/faster/more often than you.

Uh, calm down. Joking is funny, and we all needed a good laugh. I don't think the post was meant to offend grinders. Don't take it personally!

Um yeah wow... that was supposed to be a humorous post. I was making fun of myself, from my "come give me custom orders!" attitude,to the pressure of competition now I sent tells to several Tailors on my server and many had a 'don't pester me, no orders till master tailor' thing on as their afk. Well it worked for them obviously, but I just can't be quite that cut and dry....trying to grind AND please my clients is a tall order.

More power to Jo and Emily and Alciril, who I all know got Master and are doing great jobs! *cheers* I'm just having a sense of humor at my own bad luck with bugs and server problems.

And yeah...the first day I switched on 'Novice Tailor' (weeks ago) I got probably 40 tells "can u make gunmans dusters yet?"....I thought wow...what a fortune I would make if I could! Needless to say, I am not flagged as a tailor at all.

You know what works pretty well for warding off tells? Not setting your title as Novice Tailor. I only get tells from people who are DS9 fans (my character's name is Elim Garak, if that means anything to you).

As someone's who is also on starsider, I feel your pain. I dumped almost 15K in harvesters last night in case I couldn't log on tonight again.

Hello. My name is Alciril, and I'm a grinder.*

*butI really tried to not be one!

I really wanted UXP to work! I really wanted to level from other people using my clothes! It just didn't work out that way though.

The first few days of the game were interesting! The demand for bone armor alone took me to engineering IV anddomestic artsIV. The vast majority of the items I crafted in my artisan days were never made with the intention of being destroyed. Life was good!

After making novice tailor and building up enough capital to set up a few harvesters, I settled into a daily routine. I'd log in in the afternoons, do my rounds with the harvesters, and hop between the Coronet and Tyrena cantinas. I admit that I was a little ahead of the curve when I reached novice tailor, so finding people interested in novice tailor clothes wasn't hard at all. I thought I was all set! I had harvesters, was finding buyers for my clothes, and was even keeping my head above water when it came to paying maintenance fees! On top of that, if I sold enough clothes, I knew that the UXP would take care of all my experience needs! Life was still good!

Never mind. I thought I was playing a tailor as intended. I sat in cantinas, took orders, gave fashion suggestions, watched the dancers, and listened to the music. Yet somehow my experience never seemed to move much. Despite the hundreds and hundreds of items I'd sold up until that point, was I only supposed to be seeing a return of 5-10 tailoring experience every few minutes? Something was wrong. Something had to be wrong!

I realized that I was collecting metal, fiberplast, and chemical much more quickly than I could use them. I didn't want to grind. Honestly. Butbecause of the time needed to sit down with a customer, discuss his or her needs, and put together a custom outfit for them, I'd have stockpiles of resources that just sat there and stared back at me at the end of the day. Tailors just weren't (and still aren't) being rewarded for sitting down and spending time with people. So what happened next?

Ribbed shirts!

I confess! I'm guilty! In spite of the grind I still spent most of my time in the local cantinas diligently taking orders and seeing to customer needs. At night, though, after I'd filled my last orders and bid the dancers, singers, and patrons a good evening, I'd retreat to a quiet corner of Coronet, set down my three trusty clothing tools, and set out to make shirts. A lot of shirts. After all was said and done, I'd walk away every night feeling excited and disappointed at the same time. The next day I'd do it all over again with my leftover resources.

On one hand, I gained almost enough experience every day to learn a new skill box. I was thrilled at the thought of playing with the new schematics or trying out the new colors! On the other hand, I really wished that I'd been rewarded for making a difference instead of spending 45 minutes doing things that didn't matter.

And yes, I get condemned as a grinder nearly every day! Tellsresembling "omg lol did u spend all day grinding" are commonplace. Now, I know that your post was made in the interest of getting a good laugh, Blode. But there's a lot of truth in it too!
