Hello to the other tailors here. I just finally got my act together enought to set up a little shop for myself last night. Put some items on the vender and called it a night. I was pleasently surprised to see 1/2 my stock sold without me advertising one little bit this morning

But, I have a minor problem. I'm a Wookie. Being one I can't model my clothes for everyone except fellow Wookies. I've seen players set up mannequins in other shops to show their wares and I was wondering how to do the same.

Is it a skill somewhere or an option from the house control menu? Do I need to make mannequins? Thanks in advance.

Just drop clothes. They float where you drop them in the position they'd occupy if worn.

Yeah, drop and rotate works pretty well. I'll warn you though, I've never gotten the pants to line up quite right with the shirts/jackets, and I've noticed that if you drop a shirt and jacket while standing still, the shirt will appear to be mostly inside the jacket, but it'll stick out at the oddest places...

ok, so I drop the clothes wherever I want the outfit to be. I am guessing the order I drop them doesnt matter from your description then?

as a follow up, since my house is completely open to the public will that allow other players to pick it up? Do I need to set a special "you cant pick this up button"

sorry, for the silly questions, it's my first day

At present, nobody else can pick things up in your house, even if they have admin rights. For certain items, even you can't pick them up...

When dropping items, don't move. Pick a spot and drop. Pretty much wherever you are standing is where the item will appear. A perfect time to swing that camera to a top down position to locate your mannikins in the right spot. If you want something up against the wall, walk into the wall until you stop. Your item will be as close to the wall as you can get without using the /move command (which bloez btw). Then use /rotate <left/right> <1-180>

There are issues with shirts/jackets and pants/boots. They peek through each other. Ithink it looks crappy but I can livewith it. If you place a jacket though you should place a shirt too, otherwise the back of the jacket is missing. Of course you could face the back of the jacket away from a wall.

For the most part though I am very happy that this is in the game. =)

Good Luck with your shop.

But ONLY do this for clothing.. for things like resources, move around so that stuff doens't get 'stuck' on top of each other..

The difference I think is that they are different items. I see some really nice flashing bugs when you drop the same kind of item ontop of each other (for instance formal shirts) and they are very buggy, hard to target etc..

So the problem can exist with more then just crates.

I did read somewhere that the "stacked factory crate" problem can sometimes be fixed by using the /movefurn command, though it's apparently not 100% foolproof....

Yep, this worked for me. Target one of them and type /move forward 5 It saved me a CSR ticket.

I always drop in order so

shoes, pants, shirt, belt, gloves, jewelry, jacket

It tends to come out a bit cleaner with less things sticking out/graphic bugs.

Clothes also drop on one side of the house facing out the other side facing in. Though I can't remember if the side that faced out if I turned around I think it might then drop facing in (so instead of me facing the wall, I faced the inside of the room)

I also rotate my items in the same order as above

I also leave some stock items off my vendor, but out in my storage area in case people wander through. The best though is keeping stock in bags floating in the air. Easy access for extra stock or resources when crafting as you can open the bags from mid air.

All excellent advice--

One item to look out for -- DO NOT --repeating -- DO NOT-- drop factory crates ontop of one another (CSR calls this stacking) I know what they call this, becasue you will be talking with CSR if you do this. If you accidentally do do this, (in my case trying to trade, realized had 5 crates in inventory, so just dropped them all inplace to make room for trade items), when you go to pick them up, you will get item is out of range, nothing you can do to fix other then open a ticket with CSR.

I have been OK with stacking travelpacks, and clothing as described above, but factory crates BAD.

PS welcome to the wonderful world of shop ownership wish you well.
