If I were to do a factory run of Skirts... Would they all be the same color? Is there any way to adjust this or set it up to make assorted colors? I was thinking of buying schematics off a higher level tailor, but I suddenly don't think that would work. Oh well, only 3 more trees to go for Master.

Yes they will all be the same color, sadly.

Well then, are Schematics only good for factories? If I buy a Schematic, and have all the components, can I make it myself even though I don't have that skill normally? I thought that's the system the Dev's described before release... I caught the tail end of Beta 3, but spent most of that killing critters. Schematics that are worthless except to make 100's of the exact same product are worthless if you ask me.

Manufacturing schematics are only good for factories. Factories are best at pumping out non-customizable items and components, unless you're just dying to corner the market on black dusters (sigh).

I think as far as Tailors are concerned, the best thing a factory is for is to make crates of sub components for your day-to-day creation of wearables for your clientell. I tell you it saves me countless clicks just having a crate of each sub-component on call for my needs

I use my factory for subcomponents, but also for runs of items that I'm likely to sell reasonably quickly in a particular color scheme. Which, natch, usually means Black and Black....

But I find that especially useful for "leathers" - boots and gloves - because they move pretty well and there's a constant demand. Other clothes might not sell quite so fast, but I think you can never go far wrong having a substantial inventory of jackets and pants in basic black. Packs are another good thing to make with your factory.

And of course, you can also do smaller runs than 25.

I wonder if there'd be a market for identical jackets for PA's and musical bands...that might be worth pursuing.

I wonder if schematic made items have sockets?

I was just thinking of that very thing - been trying to market such uniforms since beta, but never got much interest. I think a lot of it is that musicians tend to not really form discrete groups much, working more on a "whoever's in the cantina right now, let's jam" basis.

PA's and such, maybe. I've got one customer who's not a PA (or if it is, it's a very, very small one...), but has a group of 3 friends and they apparently like to do their thing in identical uniforms.

Funny you should mention band uniforms. I formed a partnership with an entertainer troupe very early on and making decent uniforms for them was one of the major factors in my advancement. To address a different thread, I gave the uniforms away for free, and I only charge them 50% on other items. In return, tho, I get a *massive* free advertising campaign, as this cantina (Tyrena) is one of the most popular on the Intrepid server. I cannot count the number of customers I have gotten on their recommendations, and Bifein's is getting some pretty good brand recognition now - even tho I just made Novice Tailor!

On ahazi, I make full band getups for the famousfatwookie band. The two musicians who are on a lot have the exact same clothes, but with opposite colors... Likeone will have yellow pants with blue stripe, the other blue pants with yellow stripe. It looks rather cool, and they get a lot of complements on it. As for dancers, it's harder, because some want to be slutty, some want to be formal, some want to be casual, etc. Most of the time you can find something they all like, though. At one point i had them all wearing the same colors, it looked neat since they were all doing the same dance and flourishes.
