My shop is just a minute outside Mos Entha, and i feel like nobody ever visits my shop, even if i give everyone i sell clothes the waypoint to it.

Any tips beside being able to craft dusters and stocking your vendor with them? Would be greatly appreciated.

Make a cloting item. Name it
Clothing Vendor Store or Harry's Hotpants Store or something like that etc.
Put it on bazaar. Price it at 3k.
Write a description plugging your store with a location.
Be sure to tell them in the description that they can make a waypoint to the location by typing /waypoint 1234 -1234
As well as a "Do Not Purchase This Item"
When they look at clothes on the Bazaar they see your advert.

I'm not sure about your server but on Corbantis Mos Entha is a ghost town for the most part. The big city would be Bestine with Eisley right behind. Espa is a distant third on the population list.

Hey thats a good idea! I've got my shop about 1000 meters outside Keren, Naboo (admitedly a VERY light population there, even for Starsider). I've put up information about it here on the forums and make sure anyone I sell to gets the coords to the shop and my vendor has information on how to contact me for customized clothing and such. I've had (that I've seen) probably 5 people in it in the last week or so.

Does anyone know what computation is used to determine the maintenance fee for the vendor? Is it number of items or cash value? I have been trying to check it by adding a lower priced item then removing it and putting a higher priced item up to see the difference but I can't seem to figure out how it works. I usually just put stuff on the bazaar since it is more easily accessable, costs me less than maintenance for vendor and is not to far from my house so easy for me to get to also. Only thing I can see a vendo doing is giving merchant exp which I don't care about since I don't plan to be a merchant.

Im pretty sure its based on Item numbers...

i had 3000c in maintenance and 35 items,and it said it whould run for 3 days.

I removed 10 and it runs for 6 days.

I thought it was based on the prices you set on your items, so if you had alot of valueable items it would be really really expesive, if you had just a few lower priced items it would be much cheaper?

You need to do a lot of word of mouth. I also make sure I have my most advanced backpack in stores all over the galaxy with "by Karai" tacked at the end of the name. I get a load of tells from people who see them and know I must be somewhat advanced because I can make a backpack like that(I make a fortune on them as well).

Obviously you need a good location. Someplace at the 1km ring outside of a popular city is best.

Also watch all the boards and when someone starts a thread about player stores or asking for a tailor reply and make sure the location and coords to your shop are in it.

And exploit the dancer market. If I go to a cantina, I dancer price everything at half my usual rates. Most of the time they give me the full value anyway. And they frequently show up at my store and pay full price. And people see the items and of course, the dancer can tell them who made it because it says "by Karai" on it.

And keep the store stocked. I was in a tailor's store yesterday that had an empty vendor and a note to send an email. That's not going to get you sales. Keep pants, jackets, and skirts in your base colors (black, brown, white, blue, maroon, yellow/cream, and green -- in that order if you have two items one black and one brown). And that includes the cheap early stuff. Also wookiewear is a huge seller. If you have more than 50 or so items, people will notice the selection and will remember and come back.

Here's a neat little tip I found (I think someone on the Merchant Forum posted it) for once you have people visiting your shop:

Make Bone Armor Segments and drop them in your shop for use as signs! They look just like little silverish signs on the floor. Just change the name of it from "Bone Armor Segment" to whatever message you'd like your customers to see. E.g., "We now have Tech Packs! Look under Misc/Wearable Containers!" Or "Special on Rugged Jackets today!" or whatever.

I currently have a sign reminding people that my vendor has more than one page of clothing items. (Apparently, a fair number of people still aren't aware of this. I've gotten e-mails from a couple people who were unable to find some item that I had assured them was available on my vendor, then figured out they didn't know about Page 2....)

Always use the 25 bazaar slots you have, and use the "details" screen on those items to educate people about your vendor and your business. Binding a keycombo for Cut and Paste helps immensely there.

It also doesn't hurt to have a website to refer people too, and keep it updated. And if you make that site part of your board sig, and are active on the board for your galaxy, that helps too...

I've been wondering about this... Could you please explain how to do this?

So you guys think that beside naming my items with my name in it, i'd have to relocate? Fpr once i think i'Ll put my name in the clothes i create, would be a good start.

I dunno, Mos Entha is not that empty here, theres prolly around 30-40 people and more at prime time in town.

But...I guess the fact my house is near Mos Entha will help in the long run. since not a lot of tailors are in the town ( i saw maybe2-3 max) i'll probably start getting more visits once i'mat Field Wear III, I already have a list of people who will buy stuff from me once i can make them.

I also found a trick, find new entertainers and outfit them (it helps me break off the monotony of grinding) in some basic tailoring clothes (for the UXP) and then tell them that all they have to do is to refer people to me if they need clothes.
