Thread: A question from a Ranger
Hi all -
My first post here, as I am a Ranger.
I would like to say that I love Tailors, spend a lot of money at your shops, think y'all are doing a great job despite the bugs in your factories, the rude customers, the usual morons...ok, enuf kissing up.
I just have two questions -
1. What hides specifically do you want? sub questions - Does quality matter and are some better than others.
2. What is the "best" quantity of hides to sell to y'all ? 500 / 1k / 2k ?
I think if I can get a consensus on this, I can carry it back to my forum and let the other Rangers know. Just so you know,Rangers harvest at a rate at least 60% higher than normal people - you get 10 hide units, we are getting at least 16. In one good lair, I can get well over 300 hide units easy.
This is a win/win situation for us all. You get the hides you want, we finally can start selling some of our backlog direct to you and not thru the stupid bazaar which charges us to post an item.

As a Master Tailor?
Lets see..., (any) Woolies, (any) Bristlies, Nabooian Scaleys, Tatooinian Woolies... those are the only specific ones. I am honestly not sure if OQ plays a part as I have over 30k Dathomirian Leatheries I use on everything else, but I am willing to experiment and get back to you. I haven't seen an item yet that REQUIRES leatheries, so I just use them as general purpose ones. As for quantities, the more the better of course..., Anything over 1k I would welcome if I am in need or starting to run low on a specific kind. I would probably not buy them in stacks of 500. But I would offer a discount on clothing for them if I was in need of that specific type.
Of course that is just me.. and other tailors may vary.... Maybe I can get a nod from others.... *shrugs*
So... to sum up...
1k stacks are reasonable for the Specific Hides (Woolies, Bristlies, Tatooinian Woolies, and Nabooian Scaleys)
For Leathery Hide (since it is pretty much general purpose) I would like to buy stacks of 5k to be quite honest.
Hope I was some help

Yeah, what Shardain said. I'd like to add lots of it. Big ol' stacks. meaning at least 3k+ a stack. I once saw a guy in Theed shouting that he was selling big stacks of hide. His idea of big stacks was 150...ah well, we were all n00bs once.
I would guess that when and if clothing decay goes in, hide quality will matter, but it doesn't yet.
Yes to the bristleys and woolys. Leathery, scaley and whatever else is left are good too but are all lumped together as "generic hides" for us. Wooly and bristley are needed for certain items.
Just to add a consensus...I agree. I'd prefer not to get stacks of less than 500 of any hide, just because its really rough on inventory limits. Wooly hides are the most used specific hides and I'd prefer this in 1-5K stacks. We use them in a LOT of the clothing we make. Leathery hides are the best to use in items that do not require specific hides and so 1K at least of these is great. We use bristley hide in some items, but not nearly the amount that we use wooly hide in...and I believe Nabooian scaley hide is used in one item.
Stacks of100 orless are not really usable except in the leathery hide. We would be able to use this stack probably once, maybe twice for smaller items. Leathery hide can be used between 4-10 times and may be totally used up if the tailor is careful.
I, as a tailor, appreciate this question a great deal. Thank you.

Are you other Tailors telling me *everyone* needs Nabboian Scaley for the thermal boots? And we all need Green Diamond and Plexite Amorphous for the Twi'lek Noble Crest?
Fascinating.
As a tailor/bio-engineer, I go through meat and hide like nobody's business, and quality DOES matter for BE components. I would kill (oh wait, I have killed) for big stacks of meat (especially herbivore meat) with good stats in potential energy, overall quality, and flavor and scaly hide of good overall quality. A 5K stack would be nirvana, but I probably couldn't afford it... so 1K stacks might be better.
The BE market for harvested resources is small, but very selective. It might be worth saving the top-notch stuff for the pickiest customers and letting the tailor market have the bulk of the less-desirables.
