Can anyone tell me what the name of the component is that fits in to synthetic clothes etc? Also, does it work? Thanks

Bio Engineers make components for cloth. Synthetic cloth takes Myoflex (entertainer healing) or Biosensors (medical healing). Reinforced Fiber Panels take many different kinds... Cover, camoflage, etc.

No they don't work! Currently there is debate over this. So far most testing appears to prove that wearing them offers no benefit, and can actually REDUCE your skill when the items are removed.
