I know armorsmiths can put the plate looking skill enhancement items into armors when they are constructed (or so I heard from a master armorsmith in my galaxy). Is it possible for a wookiee to get something like that added to some wookiee clothing since armor for is non existant?

Not as such, but better than nothing.

The skill enhancing attachments that look like a spool of tape can be used with clothing that has sockets. Or at least, they're supposed to work; reports vary. Once in a rare while, you can get your hands on ones that boost defensive skills like melee defense or ranged defense.

Also, some clothes can be made with optional compnents that come from bioengineers. Nobody much has any experience with this, because it doesn't consistently work, either.

And of course, other races can wear all of this and armor. But then, you're not supposed to be able to keep up with everybody else on armor - that's why they gave you something like an extra 300 HAM.

when bioengineer gets an overhaul wookiees should be able to get mods in non-socketed clothing. as it is now all wookiee stuff uses synthetic cloth, not reinforced panels, and the myomer fibers or whatever has the +wookieeroar and whatnot goes in reinforced fiber panels. Hopefull this will be addressed soon along with the fact that those BE things just don't work

I WAS adding the warcry and intimidate, camouflage, taking cover, bleeding defense, defense vs stun... and other stats to the wookie shoulder pad, but it got nerfed in the last patch. You can still wear bandoliers with the enhance reinforced fiberplast panels. It's not much but with 4 sockets plus the added enhancement.. you can have at least ONE article of clothing that protects. The only problem is you need to remove your pack to equip the bandolier
