Thread: A day in the life of a Master Tailor
this is what its like after you get master tailor
the day starts off you head over to your factorys to find that they ate half your resources and didnt make a single item, so you frown ,curse then reload all the items it needs one at a time by hand into the hopper then restart the factory, 2 seconds later a tell from someone you dont know, "hello" , being one not to ignore people you reply "hello" then comes the next tell "i need aheavy flight suit blue, and some white boots to go with it along with a white sunshade all 4 sockets how much is it going to cost me"yousay "about 11k" they reply " =( i only got 2k ". that ends that . next the tell from the guy who wantsto buy a pair of sturdy boots for 500 credits followed by the guy who wants a grand healers robe but wants to know if he can tradeyou 56 units of fiberplast he just dug up for it because he's got no money and just started out . just then you recieve system message "factory _______ has stopped making items 0 items where produced". "what gives" you say and you go to look.but wait a minute all of the resources are still there but nowonly half as much of them. doh! you realize the factory must be bugged so you redeed it to get it working again, soon as you pull the factory up someone drops a small house in the spot then logs. "F%$#" you say to yourself as a new tell from someone you dont know comes it it reads "hello, can you make me a black gunmans duster" thinking to yourself bah, anothermisplaced neo thiking he's playing the matrix.you say "yes 3k" they reply "how about a swoop helm ,gloves, boots shirt and pants all black with 4 sockets to match ."you respond " i charge about 8k for the set" next tell "Great let me know when i can pick it up" after about 20 minutes of crafting you send the person a /tell telling them thier items are ready " they reply "Great, is there anyway you can sell me the set for 1500 credits i just bought a new weapon" you type /addignore???? (???being that persons name)
and log out
this is sad but true story
/awards you MVP of the day

You know some of the weaponsmiths on the main boards are saying we should forgo vendors and be "social" crafters all the time?
I'm going to start paging them.... "Hey. I need a gun. I don't know what kind, but it's gotta be kewl. Can you make it bright red? Yeah, elite carbine. Oh thx. Is 2k enuf? I'm new".
I was attempting move my house to a more trafficked area and right as I was lining everything up for placement, the entire area for like 50 meters suddenly went offlimits in bright yellow.
Immediately, I'm ticked and cancel the placement and start looking around for some new medium house or wind harvester someone has placed in the town. Can't see anything.
Then in the corner of my eye I spot a newb scout that setup a single person tent near the foot of the mountains outside of town. This guy's TENT was blocking a HUGE building area!
Thankfully he was a nice guy and dismantled it for a few seconds so I could build. Crisis averted =)
Hey Jawa
That is sooo true, hell Im a master tailor and I was thinkin about goin back to the Uniform Marshall tag, just because its so cool.
When people ask, I just tell them that I have a license to fine them if there attire is inappropriate
Their response is usually a "?"
Log in about an hour after the daily server reset. Remarkably, for the first time in days, no items aged off at my vendors. On the other hand, only two things sold in the last eight hours, a very slow night. Oh, well. Run to town to restock the two bazaar items that sold and check for hides.
Find a good price on a few hundred hides one town over. Run to the shuttleport, wait 10 minutes for the shuttle. While I'm there, 51 items expire at my vendor, including all bustiers and hot pants, and all accessories on the wookiee-wear vendor.
Restock the bazaar, buy a few hides, catch a bit of good luck and manage to catch the same shuttle going back (and thereby not have to wait another 10 minutes). Another 11 items have aged off of my vendors.
Run back to the shop to get those 62 items back out of the Stockroom before the afternoon rush starts. On my way, four aggressive NPCs who con white to me spawn almost literally on top of me, and all open fire at once. Since I just ran this way half an hour ago and it was clear, I neither have my droid activated nor my armor on. I get pwned, bad. Fortunately, they're not killers; eventually I manage to get away.
Reprice and resellthe 62 items, then run back to town, because things are starting to sell off of the local bazaar. This time, in a fit of pique, kill the aggressive NPCs between me and town since I know where they are - and since if I get any more annoyed with my vendors, I'm chucking the whole shop and putting the points into Pistoleer or something, so I could use the XP.
Get done with that, decide that since if I don't do some major grinding this will be yet another weekend with no new items in stock, it is worth it to fly down to Naboo to buy the roughly 1200 more hides it'll take to grind my way to Formal 3. Buy almost all of the hides on the Theed bazaar, pretty much everything that wasn't set to auction or priced abover 4 and a fraction credits per hide. Fly home. There are at this point no hides to be had below about 10 credits per anywhere on Rori or in any major city on Naboo (Kettemoor). Thank Prime I ran a bunch of survey missions before they nerfed them.
Next item on to-do list: I thought I saw a new vendor on the planetary map yesterday selling housing, and since I'm sort of half-way in the market for some harvester and house upgrades, decide to go check it out. Arrive on the scene, find out it's someone I already knew who changed his vendor name. While I'm making up my mind what to do, a long-time close friend accidentally trains a female swamp tusk cat onto me. It is a killer - and it incaps my probebot, medium armor or no, as well.
Return, have a pleasant time hanging around with her and a prominent local doctor getting tips on animal handling, swapping professional services amongst ourselves, watching her pets make mincemeat out of the various cats that spawn. But by now, another 26 items have expired on my vendor, so I run back to the shop, reprice and resell them.
On the way, another group of four NPCs, who con white despite the fact that I'm teamed with my droid, spawn right on top of me and incap me a few more times.
Return to the shop, grind my way up to Formal 3. Run to town to buy the skill. Run back to the shop to do the screenshots for the web page. Realize two things: I don't have anywhere near enough copper or gemstones, and oh yeah, 3/4 of this stuff requires factory components. Start up the factory making trim, run back to town, buy materials and training, run back.
16 more items have expired on my vendors. Reprice and resell them.
By now, I have a couple of crates of trim in the output hopper. I now have time to do a pleasant bit of experimenting, seeing what color combinations look best to me on the new items that I can build. (Basically everything but the rings; jewelry settings were still "in the oven" when I logged out.) Make a couple of mockups for the showroom. Do the best job I can of displaying them, considering that the showroom is now way, way too full. Also make at least one of everything new to stick into the vendors, and make myself a Leather Trim Shirt.
8 more items have expired on my vendors. Reprice and restock them.
Realize that I didn't buy enough copper or gemstones, if I want to do a follow-up major run on factory-made jewelry settings. Run back to town, buy more materials. On my way back, the jewelry settings still aren't done, so I stop to chat with a scout who's using sampling and a steady supply of camps to grind her way up to master scout.
A few more items expire off of my vendors. Run back to the shop, move those items back from the Stockroom to the for-sale lists. Still no jewelry settings. Log out to check the day's webcomics, then catch up on the forums. Work on updating the web page, realize that I forgot to screenshot two of the new items, so put that part off for tonight or tomorrow.
Hopefully, this evening I'll actually get to (a) meet some people, (b) play some music, and/or (god forbid) (c) make some clothes for people. At least one would be nice.
Presumably some time this weekend, more of the stuff on my vendor will sell, too, giving me usage XP and some cash - if I can keep up with the fact that by Sunday night, at least another 100 items will time out on the vendor.
Brad,
You gotta know how to work a little less and do less running around.
You NEED to have a good friend (or friends) whosupply you with hides in exchange for clothes. I have 4 (or more) people who supply me with hides, I don't have to buy any and it saves me from running around. I have a close friend on my admin list who will decorate my house if need be and he does delivery runs for me with clothes and also runs to town if I need iron or something.
Factories really are my big issue at the moment. I was completely out of metal fastners yesterday and the darn factory would not make any. Tried to redeed but then some dire cats spawned a lair so I couldn't put it back down in the same spot. My other factory also wouldn't make metal fasteners... so I call for back-up and my good friends cleared out the dire cats (they got free clothes for doing so) and I was finally able to place the factory and make some metal fasteners.
Also, don't keep running back to reprice the items, instead do it once after you make your new items to add, then post on your server board that the vendor has been stocked with new items.
