Everything from this point on is blatantly stolen from vortexala who stole from Traigus who stole from Sir Vimes, etc... (copy and paste is your friend )

But, seriously, any and all help is much appreciated with this effort

Ever wonder how some stuff in SWG works, how stuff is done, why can't I find that crate of stuff on the bazzar, or how does that dancer buff work?

SWG has had a searchable KnowledgeBase (KB) forever... but nobody knows about it.

Please help us Correspondents, CSR staff and the Devs help other players that may not know as much as you.

--------------------------------------
[this next bit was blatently stolen from the Chef board.. thanks SirVimes!]

The CSRs have been updating the knowledgebase for all professions including [Tailor]. It can be accessed in-game with the following steps:

Open your Holocron (CTL H with the default keymap)

Locate and click on the Customer Service button

You are now presented with the Knowledge Base. You can either search by question or by a specific KB entry ID (if you know one)

or through the following link:

http://www.station.com/kb

If you have a chance please peruse the knowledge database and see if you can find any mistakes.
----------------------------------------

The Correspondents have been hacking away at this for a week +, and would now like you (the general public) to try and look stuff up in the KB and see what you get.

If you find errors please submit them here in this thread.

*********************
If you are pulling articles from the KB ingame:

Submit the item, number (soe22453) and the text that is wrong/unclear (with a correction).

********************
If you are pulling them from the web version:

Submit the article title "Why don't my new schematics show up in my crafting tool?" (NOTE: this is not your seach string. This is the title of the article you are reading) and the correction. (The web version does not give you the article numbers, so this title will help the CSRs find te article in question when they go to fix it.)
********************

The web version and the in-game version have the same questions and answers, just a different interface.

If you have a question that has no KB answers, or the answers available do not really help...

Post here with a
--------------------------------
UNANSWERED KB QUESTION:

The Question itself.

Answer (If you know what it is. If you don't, we'll shoot at the devs until they tell us)

----------------------------

Please help out less knowledgeable players then yourselves. There will be threads like this in all the profession forums, so help out with any other professions you have to.

Lets keep this thread on-topic, and thanks again for any and all help

The CSRs are working very hard to weed out the bad information and make sure that the Knowledge base is useful. They've been adding a large amount of information in the past few weeks.

It's a big undertaking and not a very glamourous one. And any help would be appriciated.

Thank you for kicking off this post Anabelle. The Knowledge Base in game is quickly growing to cover more and more topics and provide the most accurate information possible. On a daily basis entries are published to the Knowledge Base and any errors that are located are fixed and published.fficeffice" />

The exciting thing about the Knowledge Base is that the response time for the entries can be so swift. If you locate an error in the Knowledge Base and bring it to your correspondent we can fix it and have the corrected version in game within hours or even minutes of receiving that information. Any gaps in the Knowledge Base can also be quickly filled.

I’ve asked your correspondent to start a thread like this for two reasons. First the Knowledge Base is very important to us, but right now it is under utilized. I’m working with the Correspondents and the Developers to increase awareness for the Knowledge Base. Soon we’ll be changing some things in game to make the Knowledge Base a lot more visible.

That brings me to my second reason for coming to you – information that is as complete and accurate as possible. When the Knowledge Base becomes more prominent it will be vital for it to be as complete and accurate as possible. We have been working internally and with the Correspondent program to comb the Knowledge Base and add new entries. We would really appreciate it if you could point out anything that you find to be in error, out dated, or simply missing. If you think a question needs to be asked that’s not here please post it, or send it directly to your correspondent. We’ll work to get as many into the Knowledge Base as we can.

Thank you for your support and we really hope that you find the Knowledge Base to be a useful source of information. Please keep in mind that the Knowledge Base is intended to provide information about systems and policies but will not provide direct spoilers.

For quick answers to many game play questions, you may want to first reference the knowledge base located in the Holocron Menu. You can do so by selecting the customer service option and then using the knowledge base tab. We have recently added hundreds of new FAQs and answers and more will be added more daily, so give it a try!

I'd spend a couple hours a day doing this, if I thought for a mighty split of a second the Devs would actually use it before creating things. I mean really, what's the point of updating in the KB that grenade experimentation was taken out of the game months ago, when they decide to add items in with it?? How do we explain in the database that clothing doesn't have experimentation in it, when skill tapes for it are still dropping?? So that more players (including new ones) can see how absolutely clueless the devs are? I'm not going to waste my free time, when they clearly can't be bothered to waste their paid time!

Just above where an item's number of available sockets is listed is the total Skill Mods the item of clothing or armor gives a player while wearing the item. In the clothing item above, the current Skill Mods the shirt gives is a Melee Defense of 4 and a Defense Vs. Stun of 17. These values can be further increased by adding additional Skill Tapes, or a player may choose to add skill tapes to the existing sockets for different types of Skill Mods.

ok, the latest friday feature is a perfect example of why nobody should exert even one iota of effort into helping these putzes.

Here we have a friday feature, as uptodate as they can get and they have blatant falsehoods printed. They don't even try to explain how things really work with skill tapes, they instead talk about some fairy tale vision of some alternate dimensions version of how skill tapes work.

Man, my apathy is reaching new lows. My disgust too.

That's great David, but currently, the main page has lots of errors on it in the skill tape explanations, and thousands are reading this to get an explanation which will be wrong. They will be very upset when they take a very expensive +10 bleed defense tape and add it to a +15 bleed defense shirt, and being surprised that they still have a +15 bleed shirt.

swg has an explaination of how to put on a shirt.

Why can't they have a brief explaination and quick example in the 'description section' on how to use skill tapes? Then it would put the burden of responsibility on the person using the tape. You can't help but see an item description when you are opening it for use. I'm certain it would save a good deal of trauma for players, csr's and dev's alike in the long run.

It's pretty bad when their main page shows how completely out of touch their own developers are with their system. Not everyone knows that skilltapes do not add... they only take the higher value. This is going to add a nightmare of explanation time as people take dev-speak as gospel truth, and just turn their backs on us "stupid, uninformed master tailors" who don't know what we are talking about.... geez!!!

The Knowledge Base has been updated with an entry "Skill Enhancing Attachements (SEA)" that should detail how these items currently work. Thunderheart is working with the Development team to examine all outstanding issues with these items currently.

I just wanted to stop by and say that we’re very thankful for all of the input we have received from the community. Over the last few weeks the Knowledge Base has seen literally thousands of new entries in every conceivable topic. Many of the best questions have come directly from these forums.

fficeffice" />

If you have not yet taken a look at the Knowledge Base I encourage you to do so. With Publish 7 (currently on ffice:smarttags" />Test Center and coming soon to a server near you) the Knowledge Base will be more visible with some User Interface changes that are going in. We also hope to further revamp the User Interface for the Knowledge Base in the next few publishes following 7.

If you have questions regarding game systems, even if you know the answers to those questions or think they are silly, please either post here or work with your correspondent to get those questions to us. The more information we can put in the Knowledge Base the more useful it will be for all of us. We are also interested in feedback on existing entries from typos to incorrect wording or information. Bring those to your correspondent as well.

Finally I want to stress again that the Knowledge Base is one of the items in Star Wars Galaxy that we can update and modify whenever we choose. If you see that the Knowledge Base doesn’t cover a topic, or covers it poorly, get your correspondent’s attention and we’ll look at it. Changes made to entries are instantly visible in game and on the web site.

The link to the knowledge base out of game is http://station.sony.com/kb or you can find it in game by opening your Holocron (CTL H) and clicking on the Customer Service button in the lower left.
