Hi sorry for the noobish question but i just wanted to double check a Heavy clasp that dropped from a thug outside city isnt actually worth anything before i destroyed it, i presume its something you tailor types use?
Regards
I would hold onto it and see if you are lucky enough to find another identical one from the same place. You really need them in pairs except to make the demolitionist belt (which I think is useless, but someone may want one).

I think they're only "identical" when you get them from the same body.
Smi and I went out to get heavy duty leather once and I was doing the looting part (I am pretty useless as a fighter). I looted leather twice in a row off of two bodies (a few minutes apart) and all of them had the same serial number, so I think its possible.

I get the impression that if you loot a bunch off the same type of monster on the same day, they are identical. Being a combat noob myself, it's no more than a hypothesis. I think it works like hides - you get the same ones on the same day, but eventually the resource "rotates out." In the case of dropped components, I suspect the "rotate out" system is quicker, and they are identical off the same monster type, not identical through the entire planet.
But I would be interested in any hard numbers on this issue...

I don't think this is how it works. I have several CCTs, all bought as singles, all at different times, all from different places. Two of them have the same serial number. Obviously this isn't a statistically significant showing, but it does point to there only being but so many unique serials for these looted components. Unfortunately, unless someone can get about 100 of each looted componentas singles to really do a thorough test, we'll probably never know exactly how it works for sure.

I think this might be how it works, but I am not competely sure about it. I haven't done much looting, but it looked to me like they might rotate just like other resources, but instead of taking a week or so to rotate, they rotate every few minutes.
