Hey all,

Just wanted to give you an update on my business proformence so far this month. I posted my sales stats for last month, since i'm horribly **edit** and created a spread sheep in exel that i can track how many of each item i sell. Last months numbers were slightly off because i only tracked the items sold on my vendor and not anything i sold on bazaar. This month i am also tracking bazaar sales as well as vendor sales. I have also added a column to my spread sheet to substract my expenses for the month. As i mine my own chemicals and minerals my expenses consist of maintaince on my miners, maintainence on my factory, and vendor maintaince. Now, in my last post some of you commented on my over kill on tracking these things, what can i say, i get very bored at late hours of night and don't really have a life, lol!

I am posting this information in order to get feedback from some of the more seasoned tailors out there to see if my sales are kinda in line w/ your sales and to get any ideas on how to increase sales where ever possible. I got lots of good feedback on my last post and actually took some of your ideas. So far this month has made last month look like a joke and we are only on the 12th so far! Very pleased w/ my progress this month. I am also hoping this post helps some of the other newer tailors out there, like me, know how they are doing in the market place as well.

Ok, quick re-cap of last month's figures: sold a total of 40 items for a revenue of 75,700 credits. Now, remember these figures do not include any bazaar sales and did not account for any expenses.

As of today, 3/12/04, i have sold a total of 76 items on vendors and bazaar. I have only loaded bazaars rarely this month as i have been very busy keeping my vendors full. I have not calculated the revenue generated by these sales yet, but as you can see i have almost doubled my sales and it's not even half way over yet! I have managed to rack up 23k in expenses this month and am not very happy with that, but hey, cost money to make money right?

So what have i done differnt this month? Several things...

First of all, i took the suggestion i got on this forum re: vendor placement. I have my main vendors (Wookiee and other folks) clothing vendors in our town mall (PA Hall) on Dantooine. I have placed a third vendor on Corellia, outside of Coronet, where several people have set up a number of houses containing vendors in a large market place area, known by most folks on our server. The mayor of our town placed a small generic house there and several of our crafters have placed vendors in this house, we named the Resurrection Mini Mall, as our PA Hall is the Resurrection Mall. This vendor has recieved much traffic and i have yet to advertse on the Coronet bazaar!

Second, my level increased from last month to 3-3-3-2. Much better clothing choices and i'm crazy about my new color selections!

Third, began naming my colors simply, no more Onyx, Cobalt, Champagne, Blush, or Forest. Now it's just Red, Blue, Gold, Green. Found out from my customers they had no idea what Onyx was, lol!

Forth, read the post about spring colors, created a spring line on my Dantooine vendor in pastel colors, did give them nice names, Lemon, Peach, BabyBlue, Pink, Lilac, and White Linen. They are selling like hot cakes!!

Fifth, leveled up in merchant as well as tailor, now i'm 2-0-1-4. I can have up to six vendors now and have customized ad barking. This has been great for my vendor with the spring colors because i put on the message, "I currently have new stock from Valina in pretty spring colors for the ladies, please browse freely." (not the full message, but you get the point.)

Sixth, now this is not anything i did this month, but it is something to point out. I am getting quiet a bit of return business from folks that have shopped w/ me before and am finally getting some traffic from the bazaar sales i made in the past. For every bazaar sale i make i send out a thank you, with the name of the item they purchased and a wp to my vendor. I focused the few bazaar sales i've done this month on the bazaar on Dantooine. They sale slower than the Naboo Bazaar's but they are usually to folks who live on Dantooine and Naboo folks just are not going to come all the way to Dantooine to shop on my vendor.

Seventh, (and last, i promise), i placed displays of my clothing in the Mall around my vendor, and in the mini mall as well. I never used displays before, thought it was redundant since you can see the item in the vendor, but with these new displays people can see the colors, esp the spring colors, before they shop, and i am selling outfits than just individual items as i am giving them ideas w/ my displays.

So, in conclusion, this month is going awesome!! Thanks to all of you for your help in my last post and all the additional ideas i have gathered from other posts to this forum. I am terriblly sorry for how long this post ended up, but i am sooo excited about my progress this month i just had to share it w/ you. It's not just my virgining success, i consider this your success as well for you all have helped me sooo much i cannot say!

That just seems like so much extra work to do. I just make sure when I sell items I price them higher than what it costs to make them. I must doing something right because my bank balance is growing. I don't know how you have time to do all that. I just got caught up on custom orders yesterday, but I know I'll have more when I log in today.

Also since moving into a player city with a shuttle, my sales have shot through the roof. I may have to make clothes in the factory. Black form fitting undershirts with melee defense/medic tissues and black and white camos with melee defense. LOL

Never even considered doing seasonal colours. In fact, I've never gone as far as naming my items with what colour they are. I don't have a shop anymore, just a tent outiside Theed and I never take custom orders and to be quite disgracefully blunt i'm destroying your figures. BUT, I am Master and I have been for about 2 months now so I've got a decent reputation (not as good as Piip's though).

I'm not sure what my secret is, probably a combination of ultra cheap clothing and also the other stuff for sale in my tent (resources, pets and looted items (great market for this btw)).

My best day to date though was two nights ago after I officially opened up the tent near Theed, it boasted 3 Med Crafters Apron's, 6 Architect ones, 3 Demolitionists Belts and 5 Backpacks plus all my normal gear. I sat outside Theed Starport and set up the Macro (as I don't have Planetary Advertising yet) and came back the next morning to find myself 10 million credits richer. Sold about 100 items, 5 of the temp schem items, loads of resources as well (so I don't suppose that counts) and a few pets (which also don't count) so on the whole i'd say I made 9 mil from clothing alone. Not a bad nights work. And the profit margin?? About 99%, the only thing I don't harvest is the power so i have to buy about 100k every 3 days or so.

There is a lot to be said for Master Tailor/BE

p.s. Last night I didn't set up the macro and just logged off, sold 5 items lol, there is a lot to be said for AFK Macroing as well

p.p.s. Only do what I did IF you love having to replenish your vendor every day with about 100 items which I don't as I'm a lazy so and so and would rather go off DNA collecting

Sounds like your business is really booming.

What I used to do - before I got more business than I knew what to do with - is have theme displays. I did halloween costumes, then put them all on clearance the next month, and then went to a wedding theme. Themes are fun, and I find that I'm stuck on the wedding theme because that comes up a lot. 99% of the time it's the groom who comes in 10 minutes before his wedding and mutters something about looking groom-y. I can rip a display off the wall and send him on his way.

One theme that I wanted to do, but got frustrated with and quit, was the "classic starwars garb". You know "Han on Hoth" or "Leia, medal scene." I even watched all the movies and noted down the clothes (hey, that's the scout jacket!). Yes, yes, it's very nerdling. Ultimately I got frustrated that we couldn't make a lot of the outfits, particularly Luke's sand-colored poncho that he usually wears, before he goes goth in ROTJ.

Found out from my customers they had no idea what Onyx was, lol!

Wow. Just...wow.

Read the post about spring colors, They are selling like hot cakes!!

Here here.

Iplaced displays of my clothing in the Mall around my vendor, and in the mini mall as well.

If you ever get your own shop [or for those reading who already have] don't discount the value of theme park reward 'decorations'. That bit of eye candy really enhances the atmosphere of your shop.

So, in conclusion, this month is going awesome!!

Seriously, congratulations. Being [and staying] a successful master tailor is not easy.

One last note: I posted my sales stats for last month, and created a spread sheep in exel.

I love spread sheep....... w/ crackers.

I swear NJ you are my complete and total hero!!! I love the idea of theme displays!!! Been thinking about loading up on green items for St. Pat's day as i recently read that thread and thought "Doh' didn't even think about that!" Now i'm gonna have to set up a bunch of green displays to go w/ my temp vendor items! hehe, can't wait, bet i have a blast w/ that one!

As to the question about how i have the time, remember, i'm still starting out, so my name is still getting around and sales are slowly climbing, so i have plenty of time to kill at the moment. I'm sure this tracking project will get out of hand quickly and will be abandoned, but as it is now, it's helping to keep me pretty organized.

Thanks again for the input so far y'all and keep it coming!
