After dropping my long-standing Smuggler profession, I've mastered Tailor this weekend (without a macro(RIP Systemax mouse)) and I'm just feeling my way round the profession. With all the mindless grinding, I've not planned ahead, and all my guildies are asking for things that need crated components which, of course,I don't have yet! Oh well, live and learn
My question is about reproducing colours. The palettes have a lot of colours that are very similar. If I make an item, and later want to reproduce it exactly the same, is there an easy way to do this? The only methods I can see are recording the colour at the time of original crafting in some kind of shorthand, or a tricky bit of eyeball matchingwith an original sample. Any advice from a veteran tailor would be very much appreciated!

Add the color names for your items to the end of the name, for instance "Formfitting Undershirt (Navy/White) -AGE-". The color names I use can be found here.

names on the end are quite handy, but be carefull if you do like me and have 2 colors that are both 'aqua' depending on the material.
you'll also learn the fun of matching other tailor's colors when people bring you their favorite shirt and say 'can you make me something cool to go with this?'
After being a tailor for about a year, i can mostly match colors right away, but naming your colors will help your customers a lot. for instance: if you make a pair of thin striped pants - white/bright blue, your customers can look for shirts and jackets with the colors white or bright blue in the name. some tailors put the name in front of the clothing, which lets you sort clothes by colors. It does take a little extra effort, but i find it worth while.

Thanks for your help. I'm coming to see how vital the colouring is to the skill of being an SWG tailor. I've even started noticing how colour combinations look on people IRL

Not long after my business got into ful swing, I found myself outside on a cig break at work (IRL work, that is.) I noticed an attractive young lady walk past and the first thing I thought was "Wooly Jacket." Yeah, I'm a tailor.
