Thread: ?making schematics for others
I ususally make schematics for armorsmiths and chefs on trade.I do however ask quantities to make and set the number they are allowed to make so if they are making 100 pieces my schematic is for 100 pieces ![]()
Because bulk production is not my specialty it doesn't under-cut my profits.....if anything it works well for both sides a win-win if you would......... ![]()
I'll make armour padding schems for armoursmiths but synth cloth, trim and RFP I sell on my crates vendor in singles and bags of 40.
...which I must remember to restock once the servers are back up ![]()

I will always make a schem for anyone who asks politely.
It is their resources, and they will be running it, so the minute to trade, combine, schem, and trade, is not a bother to me.
I do not sell componants though so it does not affect me in any form.
{I used to refuse to make AP, but know that it is just synth cloth that takes hide, I will schem it out as well}
I think your business choices should be your own.
If you decide not to schem, do not feel bad when they get upset at your 'no', it is your right not to make it.
If you sell componants, set the price as you see fit, they are yours to do with as you please.
If you are going to schem, set a fee or offer it free..it is fully up to you.

There's no "right" answer to this question, and the important thing to remember is that you don't have to do anything in this game just because you can. Run your business as you see fit, and do not let anyone walk on you. You must remember that the only resource in this game is time, not materials, so do not let anyone bully you into devaluing your time if the person provides the materials.
Exactly.
I mostly don't make it because I'm a cranky, crotchety crafter.And I'm lazy. ![]()
The only time I will ablige such a request.. is if I am not in the process of crafting (meaning I have removed my Master Tailor title) or if the request is made to my other character. I will simply ask that they mail Rayze the request and we can get it squared away at the next possible convienience. I will only tell a person firmly "no" if it seems that the request for such a favor (yes, I do favors) is not a request, but that they are demanding this service from me.

/agree I don't make schems because I don't want to. Just do whatever you like, and if you don't want to do something, then don't.
I guess, I wouldn't worry about giving away freebies here and there - different tailors give different discounts, whether it be "free clothing for ATK entertainers" or discounts for guildies. It's "socially correct" to run your business as you see fit, and I think the only socially incorrect way is to run your business in a total overall money-loss model, which would be detrimental to other tailors on the server.
Nowadays I am making schematics only for guildies and friends. Not only would I cut my business in selling crates, but I would cut off the newbie-tailors from (more or less) their only income.

me too. I stopped selling cheap schematic when I hit master tailor, and while most folks were understanding one of my customers blew up. I bumped up all my clothing prices, and I'm still using the same price model right now
I started selling crates again after a while (I put it up on a vendor for a decent price, then pull them out as I need them for crafting), but I most likely won't make schematics again unless the person is really nice and is offering me a good sum
