i dunno why people are doing this! the items then becomes 850/850.

Back when i fought and had weapons i never thought of fixing something till it was like 500/1000. I think the players natural logic is a fixing tool fixes any damage and returns the item to 100%. It's interesting and I think would have been a better way to do it. Like maybe you can fix something 3 times and that's the limit. So you can invest a little money to keep something you spent a lot on a little longer, but not forever.

Yeah, it's a little counter-intuitive, and poorly documented on top of that, so it's not too surprising that people misunderstand it.

From what I've heard from armorsmiths and weaponsmiths, you probably don't want to attempt repairs until an item gets somewhere between 25% and 50% of its total. Above 50%, the risk probably outweighs the potential benefit, and below 25%, there's a greater risk of the repair attempt totally destroying the object.

BTW, I just got my first "clothing replacement" customer last night. Someone had attempted to repair his stuff, but it failed and his stuff went down to 1/1 condition, and he didn't want to find himself naked next time he was incapacitated....
