This is a semi-repost but I think this might be another issue for us witht the new decay.

I have a skill tape for +2 clothing repair and when I put it on my skill window says "Clothing repair 0/+2". When I take it off, clothing repair doesn't even show up in my skills.

Now my big question is, with the "clothing repair" skill in the game, why don't tailors have it? If ANYONE is going to have that skill it should be tailors.

Was it once a skill we used to have but was removed with experimentation? Or is this something else? One would think our mastry over needle and thread would give us a better chance at clothing repair from the average joe, but this doens't seem like the case. Read on for an example.

Today was a normal day of harvester checking. I died after my mount decided to slow down when a tusk cat came along. So I went home and decided to test out my 92% clothing repair tools. All of my garments (which were down to 950/1000)had the max condition reduced as a result. So now all of them are at 950, with one skirt down to 800/800 and a metal bikini down to 600/600.

I thought this was very rediculous, a 92% tool in the hands of a master tailor should yeild better results then that! That was when it occured to me to check for clothing repair skill, which it turns out I, a master tailor of all people, don't have.

Anyone know something I don't? Or would the dev's care to add a little insight as to how the clothing repair skill is in game but not granted to the tailors at all?

Yes yes!

I am a master tailor with crates of 95% or so repair tools. Doing a number of tests I am not as effective at repair as I should be. I can take raw metal and fiberplast to make perfect clothes but can't repair a 5% blemish on a piece of clothing without degrading it ! Come on!

Also, I am certain clothing repair used to be in before experimentation was taken out a couple of months ago. I could be mistaken, but the example of that skill tape above shows that the skill is in there somewhere. I think it should go (back) into the tailoring tree that gives the extra colors and clothing assembly skill.

Hmmmm, it seems armorsmiths are having the same problem with repairing their products as well, please read:

Something is fishy.

Yeah, this is why I won't repair clothing for people but I do keep high quality repair tools on my vendors.

Another armorsmith thread:

Now this begs the question, how to we bring this issue up to the developers? There's already a lot of people ready to lynch the devs over bugs in the game, but there are a lot who are none too happy with the decay related bugs. Crafter's repair ability should have been working before decay was patched in, and if the dev's knew our repair skills are borked but went ahead anyway it will really make em look bad.

The really crazy thing about this is the fact that I have never been able to repair armor reliably at all, but weapons I can repair with a high degree of repeatability, or at least after the patch that showed the tool's effectiveness. Clothing I had been able to repair with a high degree of success, until this last patch.

Here's my theory:

All the repair tools were kinda sketchy until the 'effectiveness' patch, or sometime around then. At that time, it seems that the only tool that worked accoring to its effectiveness rating was the weapon repair tool. The other tools simply do not function as well as the weapon repair tool.

I don't think repair is related to artisan skills either. I have the Domestic Arts and Business trees only, and one would think that with no Engineering and a complete Domestic tree to Master Tailor, my success rates would be opposite. But nooo...

And yeah, I keep 98.5% cothing repair kits on my vendor, and politely decline requests to repair stuff. I will continue to do so until I can reliably repair clothing, and retain condition.

I have been hearing several reports that clothes are effectively not really decaying anyway. It seems like the system really does not do anything. So far I don't want to accidently destroy someone's clothes until I am sure that decay actually does anything.

I know from experience if you botch a weapon repair it not only goes 0/1000 but poofs from your inventory.
