Thread: What am I supposed to do now? Any suggestions?

OK. I think that Smi will know what I am talking about since he was hit with the same problem in the Coronet medical bay the other day. I just noticed this morning that as a covert rebel (because of my guild) that I can no longer trade with covert imperials. This is new! When I try it tells me that I am not allowed to trade with a member of the opposite faction and it gives me some sort of bugged TEF which is at least invisible to any coverts around (fortunately I did not get to find out if overts can see it). This is a huge problem for me since it keeps me from being able to special orders for anyone who is not a rebel or a *known* neutral. Add an upcoming vendor cap to this and it looks like I will either need to give up my guild or see if I can convince them to allow me to go neutral and stay in it. This is of course assuming that neutrals can trade with anyone with a faction right now. Any ideas of what I should do? I am feeling more and more boxed in by silly rules and bugs. And now there is no where to report things to see if they are supposed to be this way.

Well that's ridiculous! The game mechanics should treat 2 coverts (without TEFs) as neutrals in terms of trading. That's why we have covert status right?

As for where to report/ask about things like this, I'd go to the Core systems forum (hidden at the bottom of the professions forum list. Or for this one (since it involvesfactions)the Galactic Civil War forum.

OK. I already did the GCW forum, but I will also ask in the Core systems form. Thanks! As it is now I can't trade with overt rebels (get a TEF), I can't trade with overt imperials, I can't trade with covert imperials, I can't safely trade with neutrals. I guess this leaves only covert rebels left.

I've never come across this problem, and I was rebel for months, and half my guild is imperial, and I'm always trading with them. Now I'm neutral... hmm... very strange.

Yes. This is the first time it has happened to me. I have seen it happen to three people so far, though. Hmm... I wonder if I can get around the trading problem by giving someone consent to a storage droid and putting their orders in there.

I'm a covert imperial and occasionally do run across this. Every few weeks or so, not really enough to annoy me. I've always assumed that it was just a case where that particular customer had gained a TEF prior to trading with me (running rebel missions or whatnot) but it could also be a bug. Every time it's happened I've been able to work around it by having a 3rd party broker the deal or by using the vendor if I'm close to my shop.

When it happened to me today it was by being the third party for someone. But the person I traded with definitely did not have a TEF that I could see. Anyway, I have seen this three times in 2 days and I have experienced it once. I never saw it before now. Anyway, I will probably clone and insure in Theed and test this out today. I should also be able to see if this TEF that I get is real since I will certainly die in Theed as a rebel with a TEF.

The Problem:

You can always trade with a covert member of the opposite side UNLESS they get a tef that is invisible to all but themselves. It's a flag symbol beside their HAM bars. They get this by trading something TO (not from) an overt of their faction. They can also get this by healing an overt member or their faction. Essentially, anything that benefits an overt, will give you a tef. It lasts 5 minutes, and is annoying as heck. Worst part is when you trade to an overt of your own faction, getting the tef and you are kicked out of your house for it.

The Fix:

Use someone on the faction of the tef person. If you are rebel, trading to an imperial overt/covert-tef, just find a covert imperial that has no tef and use them as the messenger. This person will get a tef through the trade, so it's best to send everything over in one trip.

The way I see it is that trading/healing an overt seems to give me a TEF that only I can see. I see it at top right of my screen as a little flag but do one else has any indication that I have it, even if I am grouped with them. If in med center I hide a floor or two up These TEFs last a lot shorter than the old ones...only a couple of minutes, as oppose to the ten I used to get when running missions.

Ok. You are supposed to get a TEF from healing an overt. You didn't get kicked out of the medical center like you were supposed to? Anyway, this narrows things down a lot. I think it is not a trading bug, but a TEF bug. TEFs aren't working. I am going to clone, put my stuff in a droid, go get a TEF and find some overt imperials to see if they kill me. That should solve the rest of the mystery.

OK. I think that the problem is that TEFs are not visible to coverts (and maybe overts). I can target someone, or even be in the same group, but the little flag is not visible. It is impossible to tell if someone has a TEF. The strange thing is that the person I tried to trade to was definitely not a rebel. I should not get a TEF for trying to aid a member of the opposite faction anyway.
