Currently, necklaces are bugged. You can't see them because the camera is aimed beneath the necklace. If you look in your inventory, or examine them, they are invisible. Dropping them in a house will reset the camera location, and you will be able to see them. Pick them up and you can see them again, but that will reset the next time you log into the game and you will have to do it again.
Another method to see the necklace when invisible is to use your mouse to pan the view straight up and down. The necklace will just barely come into view for you if you do it right. Drag the mouse from the center of the window straight up. In a crafting window, this will allow you to see the colours before you finish it, allowing you to get an idea of what the colours will look like. It is going to be farily small, but at least we can see them.
Thunderheart does know of this issue, and Anabelle has said she will send another note off as well. So we must simply be patient.

n'Jessi: Open the crafting window as much as possible height-wise. Click in the bottom of the item window. Drag all the way up to the top. You should be able to just see the necklace.

I've tried the "dragging" while attempting to colorize and I've never been able to successfully tilt the camea enough to view the necklace during the colorization process. Not even a bit. Can you please explain in more detail how to do this - perhaps a "Necklace Colorization for Dummies" course?

I can always get it so that I can see the chain on the necklace, but no matter what I do, I can't see the stone. I can only see the back of the necklace, never ever the front.
