Wow thanks for all that. Well I just dropped most of my combat skills and started being a crafter (mainly because holorcron said armormsith), but I decided to pick up Tailor and Merchant along with armorsmith. I was starting a shop with lots of grinding materials such as crates or survival knives to grind slicing for smugglers. I thought crates of synthetic cloths were also a good idea for armorsmiths to buy. I am using those crates myself to grind armorsmith (mabari chest plate), and they are working quite well. However, 3 units of synthetic cloth per chest plate can get kinda pricey for armorsmiths I guess.

Oops, must have hit enter. Anyway, I see these crates are a hot among grinding armorsmith. Does anyone sell them and know how much crates of 25 sell for? (grinding stats)

First, there is no difference to a crate of synth cloth made by a master tailor, using OQ1000 resources, and a novice tailor fresh to the profession. You can buy them all for the same price, there is no grind-quality synthetic cloth

Now, synth cloth uses 16 units of fiberplast / 4 units of inert chems (oil or polymer) and it can be any quality, so run to the bazaar and grab some 3cpu junk. No need to waste the OQ990 tatooine fiber that goes for 15cpu - 30 cpu depending on how long the server has waited for a good spawn of it

You need power and maintenance to run the factory, and allowing for the fact that your factory is tied up making grinding components for an armoursmith will also add to the cost.

The cloth comes in crates of 25 pieces, so this is 500 units of resources. if we assume the minimum price of 3cpu, then at 1500 credits per crate we are losing the price of maintenance and power for the factory. at 4cpu we might break even. at 5cpu we break even or start to show a tiny profit. You will find crates on the bazaar for 2500-3000 credits under "Misc --> Factory Crates"

That's not really a good business practice though. at 10cpu for my clothes, I am losing money by selling the cloth to others. I could be using that cloth to make clothes to sell to others. That puts the price at 5000 per crate, and it is too high for armoursmiths to just grind. You will have to find a tailor that is willing to settle for a large order somewhere between 2500 and 5000 per crate.

There are alternatives.get a factory and make the cloth yourself. Find a friendly tailor that will make you 6 schematics (yes 6000 units of cloth) so you can get all the way through armoursmith. That way, you can harvest the resources yourself, collect the crates as you need it, you are not swamped with crates. It's win-win
