It seems that the Devs are revamping all the professions one at a time. When it comes time to do the Tailor profession i say they need to take a look at all the art and discreptions of clothing and people from the Expanded Universe (EU). I've seen some really great stuff in the EU from books, games, and comics. Included in this would be more things for an 'uper class' type people to wear and things for the 'lower class' people. The uper class could have more elagant thinks like capes, headwear like Amidalas, just not as grand (she was a queen after all). The lower class would have rags. we also would like special clothing to get as a reward for some quests, Imp and Reb clothing, maybe even NS inspiered clothes, etc.
Also, i know it has ben mentioned many times, but we need to have enviromental decay. Such as swiming, sun, sand, rain, etc. those sand storms on Tat would tair your clothes apart.

Absolutely.
Also, in regardsto the 'item descriptions"I think it would be highly beneficial if the devs list item restrictions when certain species/sexes cannot wear an item, for example, men can't wear a sports wrap shirt.

Why does it matter?
Everything in SWG either decays over time [guns/armor, vehicles], requires maintenance/food/recharging[houses/harvesters/factories/robots/pets/mounts, or is a 'constant need' item that gets 'used up' till it's gone, then quickly repurchased[food/stimpacs] or combinations of the above. Everything except clothing, which doesn't work because it's 'broke'.
There is no valid reasons as to whyit 'doesn't' matter, not when everycraft profession should continue toreap the benefits of 'decay' and pad their bank accounts because of it, while the tailor profession continues to get gyped.

The fact that clothes can be worn at 0 condition is a bug. So when it gets fixed, decay will matter.

I remember once upon a time...when we could experiment...for like a few days.
