Thread: Where do you buy your hides, bones, and meat???

First off, I'm a scout. Currently almost 75% to Master Scout (4/3/4/2). The biggest hassle I am having is trying to hauck my bones and hides to Tailors, Armorsmiths, Arcitechs, etc. I spend most of my time doing player searches looking for buyers. I usually sell hides and such for 3-4 credits per unit. Basically just enough to resupply myself with weapon upgrades, etc.

I was wondering where everyone gets their hides and bones and meat? I've tried selling things on the public bazaars, but the items usually don't sell. My prices are some of the cheapest, and I am very fair in my pricing. I think the main thing is that people aren't looking to the bazaars for the hides and bones and such.

I was thinking of starting a taxodermy business where people like yourselves could come and buy the materials from me, instead of me running around trying to wheel and deal. Does this sound like a good thing? Are you all willing to travel to my shop to buy raw materials???

I've found that I never really need to buy hide. I don't go through it that fast, and when I run low I just wipe out a spawn of Cu Pa's and I'm all set for awhile. At 3cr's per.. I'd rather spend my money on Metal or Fibroplast, as I can gather hide much faster then I can sample these resources

Bone and Meat... no need at all.

(granted you can AFK for resources, but I also consume exponentially more Fibro and Metal then hide)

What size stack of hide are you placing on the bazaar? I know I'll only buy a stack that's smaller than 300 if it's a really, really good deal- like 1cpu or less. I use soooo much leather that less than 300 is seldom worth my time, and really prefer stacks >1000.

Typically I sell in stacks of 500 on the bazaars. I have sold stacks of 250. The smaller the stacks, the easier it seems they sell. I have sold outside the bazaar in stacks of 2000. The problem with the bazaars is that it has the 3000 limit. So if I get some high quality wooly, like I have now, I have to split it up, which causes problems with a intermitten bug where splitting a resource and then placing them on the bazaar makes them disappear.

Would it be better for me to set up my own vendor where you can buy the hides and such from me, rather than going to the bazaar? My current home planet is Naboo, was going to set up shop there, south of Moenia.

FYI, ironically quality of material does not affect the quality of tailored designs. Of the three items you mentioned - bones/hide/meat - hide would be the most used. A few items use wooly hide only, and then the rest, any kind of hide at any quality. Bones are usedin small quantities for some wookiee clothes (a ten minute session with my probot killing small animals generates enough bones for me for a while). I have not yet come across a use for meat.

A lot of people get their hides, bones, meats from players in their guild.

Hehe I know I do, and everyone else in my guild depends on someone else for other things.

And as Tailor there is not much need for hides/bones/meat (although I know other profs are in great need of them) so maybe try selling to a new profession solely. Or join a guild *shrugs* Good luck though. :-) I know lugging around all those hides and other things can be a pain! ;-)

Well, the meat is for Chefs and Bio Engineers. I have been able to sell small quanities of meat for 2 credits per unit.

I basically buy my hides from various customers. Kinda have an oversupply right now, actually, but I'm still buying up a lot to stockpile and help people out, as I've got a lot of cash. Plus, I figure a lot of that cash will be coming back to me in clothing purchases.

I buy mine off the bazaar.

Since the type of hide and quality has no bearing on the clothing, I just look for the most for the least cost

So what I do is when I put my items to sell on the bazaar, I will look to see if there are any good deals on hides ... for example I just bought some Leather Hides (Qty 1300) for 3000 credits. This will last me a day or two so as long as I can come across a deal like that every now and then, I am set (and so far no problem).

I need *lots* of hide, and I shop around and buy it from bazars in various cities. Basically, quality doesn't matter, so I go with whatever I can buy in bulk for decent prices. I need some for my tailoring (which I just started), but need much more for my furniture making. Most pieces of furniture seem to require 100-150 hide, so I can go through hide very fast. Also it means that I really need to buy hide in 1k lots or so, otherwise I end up with lots of leftover that I can't use.

Wish you were on my server, I could really use a good supplier.
