Thread: Is engineering line needed for socketed clothing?

Forgive me if I missed the thread as I seem to remember reading about it somewhere. I'm now master and want to start exploring some of the galaxy. I currently have some carbine skills(please don't laugh) and medic skills, as well as some scout. I've started chopping away at the merchant tree and was wondering if i could do the same with the artisan engineering line. I notice artisan assembly is different from what's mentioned in the tailor line. Does artisan assembly have anything to do with sockets? This was never a big deal to me before as the number I got in any piece seemed to be very random, but since hitting the top, almost everything I make has slots and my customers expect that. Don't want to drop those skills if they'll affect the amount of slots available. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this? Thanx for your time.

No definitive answer for you, but I'm a master tailor, and all tailoring items I make have 4 (generally) sockets. I dropped master artisan and engineering line in artisan tree, and now the artisan clothing I make only has 0 - 2 sockets. (before untraining those it was 4) I'm unsure if it's the engineering or master artisan that is keeping me from making 4 sockets in the artisan clothing line, but it is one of the two (though nowhere in anyskill boxesdoes it mention socketed clothing)

i have found that "low-end" things i make have sockets...it varies between 1-4 , seems to just be a random chance thing...i have yet to make anything above the novice tailor box that has sockets...

I am beginning to think that the only things that have them are in the "Casual" tree....
