Thread: My sales have dropped since the patch--here's why
This is actually a merchant issue, but posting it here since so many of us are using vendors.
You all probably know that all our clothing on the vendors got listed post-patch as 'unidentified object' or some such generic title. I thought hmm..oh well, that sucks but I really don't think I'm going to pull 158 vendor items off the vendor, fill my email box with 158 spam messages, and then relist them all.
Then I thought hmmm, actually would be great to have them sorted into their new categories, becuase then I could just look quickly and see--am I out of boots? do I need to restock low cut tops? So I spent the long hour pulling everything off the vendor into the stockroom, relisting it, and then cleaning up my mailbox (oi vay!).
Surprise! Everything is still listed as 'unidentified'!!!!! All that for nothing, but more importantly, most people do not use the 'all' button to sort their items. I know I do, but apparently most of my customers go straight to the 'clothes button' and probably now take advantage of the new sorting and go for their specific category they need.
I sat in my store and had customer after customer say "where did all your stuff go? I only see one dress listed." etc etc.....I finally made my vendors bark "Welcome! PLEASE USE THE "ALL" button for sorting since categories are bugged post patch"---nice and immersion ruining lol. Not to mention the vendors do not remember this when I log off and everyday I have to redo the whole ad bark again.
Anyway, it's killing me, since my playtime (i.e. stocktime) is day and most people play at night.
Like I said, this is really a Merchant issue (and I'm about to post it in that forum) but wanted to save someone the pain of pulling their inventory out and relisting it, and warn others if they are suffering in sales a bit.
I answered this on the merchant forum as well, but I think having 2-3 people in my shop at a time mobbing me for custom orders on Monday and sitting there alone last night at 9:30 pm until I finally gave up and went exploring might have more to do with my falling sales than how vendors are working.
Everyone I talk to says that the number of customers is way down. And it's not just a cash issue, none of us see as many people wandering around hunting either. I hate to sound Vault-like, but I think we're seeing people who have had enough giving up on the game.
at least your stuff is still there. my vendor got wiped ![]()
50 some odd high level stuff vanished like a fart in the wind!
Heh..it wasn't a money complaint y'all, it was really a function complaint. But yes, I agree the market is softer now with mission rewards lowered.
Hmm I didn't pull the items all the way off the vendor...I will try that (when they fix the vendors now on our server *sigh*). Holy cow will that be a pain lol.
Thanks for the suggestions. ![]()
Second, a good number of people are running faction missions in order to find the datadisks for the storyline. There are always huge clumps of people near the faction mission terminals.
Third, a good number of people are just trying to adapt to some of the recent enormous changes. I know my TKA master friend is struggling right now trying to adapt to the loss of knockdown. Buying clothing is the last thing on his mind.
No worries. Once everything starts settling down from the mess this patch caused, people will be buying clothes again.
On Kauri this morning I was only able to access my vendor for maybe 15 minutes...then I couldn't initialize it, or the bazaar. I even went to another city to see if it was a local lag issue, but no dice.
I was so disgusted, I logged off and went shopping. I'm going to try again, but if I can't get into the bazaar to buy some hide, I'm gonna just go read a book. And if things don't drastically improve, I'll probably be one of the ones quitting. I can't afford $15 a month for something that's becoming more chore-like than fun. ![]()
