i just got novice tailor the other day. i'm not terribly impressed with my options at novice, but i already know i'm going to love the next tiers soooo much

but anyways, i'm highly disappointed in the options for hats and headwear. not only are there so few options, but the options we have are really rather ugly.well, i guess they're not THAT ugly (except the warm hat), but they are highly specific. the head wraps are decent enough (although the regular wrap looks more like a powdered wig, but that has its own uses), but they are SOOO desert! and swoops just aren't me. and of course, there are a lot of selections for wookiees and twi'leki, but that leaves a lot of others high and dry.

some things i'd like, although not all may really be SWG appropriate:

straw hats, crowns/tiaras, knit winter hats/stocking caps, cowboy hats, bowlers, i'd LOVE a balaclava or ski-mask, hard hats, space-age beenies a la the jetsons, ball caps, safari hats, mariachi hats, sombreros, animal pelt hats would be GREAT, fur hats like those old bomber hats, those cute little irish caps, berets,crush hats a la crocodile dundee, top hats, and anything else you can think of. i don't think it'd be too hard to take a basic hat and change it around a little so that it would be less like a real-world hat.

The big problem with hats is that your hair won't be drawn while wearing one. I'm frankly rather surprised and saddened that they took the easy way out and just decided to count hair and hats as a single attachable piece on the model, instead of coming up with a way to prevent hair from poking through the headwear. For shame.

As far as I'm concerned, swoop helms and large headwrapsare the only good hats in the game. I guess sunguards and warm hats are pretty popular, but I personally think they look terrible. The big problem is that there's not a whole lot of headwear in the Star Wars universe to draw inspiration from. I can't think of a single character from the movies who ever wore a hat casually....there were plenty of swoop helms in Ep. 1, and pilot's helmets in every movie, but that's about it. I'd like to see Pilot's Helmets added, though (think X-Wing pilots from A New Hope)....they could be a Master Tailor item to complement the Fighter Flightsuits. Berets would be a good addition, too. And maybe some sort ofSWAT-like facemask.

As cool as baseball caps, beanies, cowboy hats, sombreros, etc. would be, I just can't see them fitting in with the Star Wars theme. Though it would be awesome to run around in a baseball cap, baggy denim pants, a loose t-shirt, real sneakers, and sunglasses, just like I do in real life. Never gonna happen, though.
