Thread: A request of the Tailors

I may be going out on a limb here but I have a request to make of the crafters in our community and as such I am posting this message or a version of it to all crafting boards.

As many of you may know the time is apparently coming around for our top 5 issues to be compiled. I'd really like to see all crafters put storage on one of those top 5.

As it is we stockpile enough houses worth of resources to sink small countries, and frankly it shouldn't be that way in my opinion.

If you're like me at one point or another you had everything nicely fitting in one house as a crafter and had no problems running your buisness out of that house or another location. If you've been around for a while chances are your lots available for harvesters is dwindling or has dwindled to almost nothing, or you've had to get an alt or arrange lot swap deals.

My point is this, combat classes don't need 5 houses and a factory to make a living, why should we? If they would raise the cap on resource stacks by a factor of 10 or even 5 and raise the stack size on factory crates the same the situation would solve itself. I don't know about most of you but personally 500k stacks versus 100k stacks means 1 house versus 5 to me.

I am just trying to lobby support for an issue that all of us crafters face. We've seen time and again that enough of us saying the same thing will make a change, hence why I am asking that we put this issue forwards.

Thankyou for your time and consideration

I would love to have synth cloth crates hold 100 pieces. Metal fasteners and trim and RFP all hold too little, and so we are forced to squirrel away houses full of these now. I'd think it would help the database immensely if they could do this.

Another thing they could do is allow resources (and only resources) to be placed on the bazaar in a unit/cpu fashion. So you can stack in 500k of resources, and put a cpu value. Then a customer can take out as much or as little as they want. No need to buy 30 different items of 1000 units.

Yeah I definitely agree that our crates ought to hold more. I don't have loads of houses but I've currently got 3 purely for storage though most of the time I could easily do with just two.

Hopefully when they finally get around to updating the bazaar you'll be able to group items to sell, like using backpacks right now but without the hastle.

What would be nice is if there was a "Warehouse" building. Small so it takes up very little physical space and acts like a factory and the bank, you can't enter it, just put items in storage. Means no data for item placementso less database use. Could allow Architects to experiment on them. Say lot size and internal space. One lot warehouses could store say 150 (make them more desirable than just using factorys).

I have 6 houses and 4 factories, and use the bank and still have huge storage problems. Raising stack sizes by a factor of 10 wouldn't help me much at all though, because most of my stacks are organics where the stacksize is 10k or less. Even for the stuff I harvest via a heavy harvester, very few of the stacks I have are over 100k, and none over 200k.

Now factory crates, that another story. That would help me quite a bit. I'd love to see that.

For those of you with storage problems, here is a helpful tip: Houses are 2 lots and hold 150 items. But a factory is 1 lot and holds 100 items in the input hopper, and 100 items in the output hopper. So if you want a place to hold all your resources, crates, and other knicknacks (input hoppers will hold any item or container) you can use 2 factories for 400 item storage, instead of 1 house for 150 storage.

Really 200 items in a factory? I had factory problems once, it just kept stopping production even though the output hopper wasn't full. I put it down to the factory being only able to store 100 items in total. I might be wrong though as I've heard something about them getting stuck when the output is 80% full.

I still think some sort of deadicated storage building would be a good idea.

I just finished 2000 trim in mine. Both input hoppers are at least 50% full, and the output hoppers are definately full
