LOL!

If that doesn't sum up the Tailoring experience, I don't know what does. That one's been there from Day1... and it has become so common place that I didn't even think of it.

And here we are coming up on Publish 8, and pretty much, Tailors haven't gotten anything we've ever asked for.

Oh, and here is one other thing they did to hose us. It used to be that to be able to color armor, you had to have a combination Armorsmith/Tailor. And the Armorsmith gun-bunnies fussed so much that they changed it to only Armorsmith was needed. And then, they added in a little 'patch' that allowed everyone to change the color of their armor at will... telling us that it would only be available for 2 weeks, so that everyone who already had armor could get what they wanted. I think that what? 3, no 4 months ago, and it's still there?

Gee... I've walked so far away from Tailoring that I didn't even know about the socket change. I'm not suprised, though. I started this game 2 weeks after release, and all I wanted was to be a tailor. And in the entire time since release, nothing has ever been done for tailors. Well, OK, they did replace colors on the Master Tailor palette, but that was only giving back something that they took away for nearly 2 months. So, let's do a little nostalgic check of what's been done to Tailors (and I carefully choose the word 'to' instead of 'for'):

1. Since Day1, they have promoted the idea that Tailors can add protective qualities to their clothes (read the 'examine' on just about anything). They have left Tailors with NO SKILL or ABILITY that they can work into clothing. This leaves poor Tailors having to explain that they can't really craft any sort of protective clothing, despite the fact that every article of clothing in the game says we can.

2. They nerfed clothing experimentation. They told us this was because they were still working on clothing decay.

3. They implemented the most idiotic decay system imaginable. It was such an obvious disaster that pretty much every Tailor in the game (remember, these are the folks the devs said they were trying to satisfy) was on the boards before it went live complaining about the idiocy of this particular system. So, this big ol' turd got dropped in the game, and all of our friendly Tailors got laid with the blame for it.

4. The never gave us back clothing experimentation. Of course, it would be pointless, since the decay system in place will destroy any uninsured item in 20 deaths, regardless of the actual durability rating.

5. Oh, did I forget to mention that this so called 'decay' doesn't actually do anything? My own character now runs around in 0/1000 clothes all the time. It bites for armor and tools, but it doesn't actually affect my clothing at all.

6. And now they're stripping sockets. Not that we ever had any control over socket results, anyway.

Basically, if you don't use a gun, or directly support those who do, you're getting something wet and slimy slipped into your... ear, on a daily basis. I hear a lot of combat types complain that things keep getting changed out from under them. I wish we had that problem. They may get a new rug every day, but we just have it pulled out from under us.

Can I add one thing to that list? Even though it seems pointless now...lol...the invisible necklace bug that has been around forever. I know, I know, if you adjust your crafting window, you can kinda see it - but really, should we have to do that? Sorry, had to vent that one...lol

I started with 1 account and split a 2nd with my roommate as a 'bot.

I now have 5 accounts at my disposal... as folks have quite the game in disgust, but had 3-6 months left in their pre-paid subscriptions... they've just turned the accounts over to me. So, with 5 characters at my disposal, 3 of the crafters, what do I do?

I play the gun bunnies.

I only use the crafters when I want something for myself.

it really is terribly sad to see such an experimental type of gameplay lost to it's most strident adherents because of a lack of Dev concern. Tailoring, Dancing, Image Designing, all these things are pretty new to MMORPGS, (as pointed out in an excellent article from SWGTailor.com) and they are dying because the company that gave them to us doesn't want to support them.

My god !

I did not know it was so terrible for Tailors since the first day !

I think I have made the right choice, I just decided to drop Tailor, I don't have fun like I thought I would have in this profession...

I really like making clothes but I really hate not being able to influence what I am crafting...

This is sad... Tailor is really a great profession... but not right now...

I'm on the verge of cancelling myself. I log my character in on the CoH beta and see the beautiful, true yellow I'm wearing, think about the mud color they give us in SWG, and despair. They will give us nothing we ask for, not even a simple true shade of a primary color. They don't care about us, it's as simple as that.

I really, really do appreciate all the folks who are managing to stay upbeat about the situation, our wonderful correspondent among them, but I'm just sick of Sony and the horse they rode in on. The only reason I'm staying on for another month or two is to at least see the upcoming ID changes. But of course, those are pushed back to May now. SOE has just said "wait and see: great things are coming!" too often, then disappointed completely in the timing of the change or the application, or both, that they have virtually no credit left with me.

Well, I think dancing and music work OK. I think there are just some problems in the player application of those 2 professions... same for Merchant (I don't think crafters use the Merchant class correctly at all). Those classes more or less work, it's just that the majority of folks play them the wrong way. (I have both a dancer and a musician on Wanderhome.)

ID, Tailor, and to a lesser extent DE (but that's gotten better, and will probably rock after this week) have all been hosed. Kind of sad when my kindly merchant/crafter concept has to learn to kill to survive.
