Hiya

Currently I am a TKM, 4-4-3-4 Tailor, and 2-4-43 (?) Merchant. I am not going to get rid of my TK skills (it is nice to go out and kick something periodically), and I was a Master Merchant until recently (to sell my smuggler wares--obviously I am no longer a smuggler). I was wondering what all the master tailors have to say about selling their products. Do most of you sell off of vendors or just wander around with your tags up and let people contact you? I know I have been to some excellent clothing vendors on Naboo (Eclipse server), as well as some lack luster ones.I was wondering how successful using vendors is versus not using vendors. Also, do most of you sell to the public, or just make clothing for yourselves and your friends? Any and all input is welcomed. Thanks.

I use vendors exclusively. I've made maybe 5 custom orders in the last 3 months lol.

I have been a tailor since um, i forget.

anyway, i mainly do vendor sales, but i only stock 100-200 items on a vendor, about 30-50 on my wookiee and i have a special order one. ocassionally i get insane and stock a LOT of stuff, but usually i'm too lazy to do more than 30 items at a time. or i get interrupted by people asking for rush/custom orders. I'd rather do face to face orders, because it is more fun for me, but I have 2 shops i run as well. it depends on if you want to be at the whim of people online, or if you want to have time to do other stuff. If you hang out near a large city like theed or coronet, you are more likely to get the orders by tell/mail, but if you have a shop in the middle of nowhere, sales will be slow unless you advertise a lot.

If you are looking for a way to get your name out, i'm currently looking for a co-tailor to make accessories (boots, gloves, footwear, headwear, necklaces, etc) for my shops, since most of the time i forget to. If you play for more than 5 hours a day, in busy areas, you should start getting some business, but it all depends on your play style.

sorry if that made no sense, it's been a LONG day at work.

Vendor sales for me..I keep each one stocked with 200+ items and my recently added BE vendor is working wonders for my cash flow. I'll only craft in public if it's someone I know or if i'm in a very good mood assome people will drive you crazy. Most of the people who will randomly send me a /tell for clothing seem to havevery poor communication skills...or you get the"make me something cool.. i have no idea what,.. and anything you make me, wellit won't be 'cool' enough" type peoplewho haveput me off tailoring on-the-go... or if you don't reply to a tellin exactly 5 secs the next/tellyou recieve is always just a "?"..

The best thing I've found for merecently is just to hang out in one of my stores because then I can combine vendor sales with more personal sales.

I've gone entirely to using my vendors. I normally have about 800 articles of clothing stocked, though I'm down from that at the moment, as I'm afraid to go back into the crafting room.

I will talk to people and discuss what they want face-to-face, but I make them send me their final decisions via e-mail to go into my 'crafting que', and then I knock out what they want, stick it on the vendor, and send them a WP. Mostly, I find this helps me seperate the wheat from the chaff amongst my potential customers. Those folks we 'have to have it right now' are the ones that will complain that it's not the right shade of blue, and why doesn't it have 4 sockets, and why won't I let them have it for 1/4 of what I told them it would be before I made it, etc.

I have nice customers now. I love them. I keep a steady supply of 'special order' baggies in my shop all the time, now.

I am a BE tailor, so I keep a vendor for my bio-enhanced clothes. I will rarely make "normal" clothes, and when I do, it's by appointment only.

Speaking of which, on Starsider, my town's other tailor just bailed. Would any good tailor with well-stocked vendors like some business thrown their way? PM me.
