Every 5 minutes is fine. Although I'm not a fan of recursive macros because of the potential for annoyance, if used sparingly and considerately they are okay

As long as you stay on the auction channel a self-repeating-advertize-makro seems ok to me... I personally dislike such spamming, but the auction channel has been created just for that and I don't have to listen to it, so advertize there as much as you want
Just tay off the other channels, especially Spatial and Planetary chat. I personally have quite a collection of spammers of that channels on my ignore-lists on my chars and I know many others do, too. But well, that's just me

Thanks for the advice and suggestions, I have a decent pause between announcements using /auction only.

Ok, I've been playing awhile, but I am still a noob in some ways. We didn't have an auction or planet channel back when I last played intently. I didn't know how to do even the simplest macro back then. Now I am in need of a means to advertise while I am doing other things. I have seen mention of a macro using the auction channel. I tried to do one myself but it didn't work. I have looked several places including the official macro guide put out a couple weeks ago, but it was to no avail. Can somebody hook me up with a macro using the planet and/or auction channels, preferably using only one or two hotkey slots? I have stock piling up on my vendors and no sales as of yet, which doesn't worry me much because I have to get the name out and that takes time. Still, this would make things easier until I can get a barker droid or two.

Go to your abilities and commands window (ctrl + A) and create a new macro. Use the text:
/auction what you want to say in the auction channel
Put that on a hot key and hit whenever you feel like it. Make sure you give a good pause between ads otherwise you might find yourself being put on ignore lists.

BRAVO for doing it in the Auction channel instead of spamming our precious spatial with it!!!!

I hate spatial spammers as much as the next guy. Besides, I will be using it mostly while crafting or making runs between factories and harvesters, so nobody is likely to be around to hear it in spatial. I was thinking of making it a recursive macro, with a timer of five minutes or so, which would be something like a /pause 300 am i correct? And thanks for the command, i was trying to use /ui toolbarChat yada yada yada. Didn't work.
