I just do not think some people understand how busy us tailors can get during the day. I get a lot of tells for orders and I respond back for them to email me the order, and then they ask why. /sigh

Why? Well, email is easier to keep track of who ordered what when you have 10 tells coming in at the same time and it saves time from having to jot down the information on a scracth pad.

Anyone have a good system for keeping track of orders?

What I tend to do is reply back when the order is complete with the cost to the person who sent it and to myself with the "Order Ready name" attached to the subject line. So when they get to the shop, I can open the email real quick and see what items they ordered if I forgot.

I hate to have to let customers stand in my shop for an hour when they could be doing something else more enjoyable instead of watching me make clothes

Most crafters I know setup an /afkmessage "I'm working on an order right now, please email me your order or questions and I'll get right back to you."

Yes, that is what I have as well, which works pretty good. But I find I get more customers when it is off.

Maybe we could get some kind of ticket system like the CSRs have.

I try to give as much information as I could in my AFK message. I used to take armor order, and I use my Email as my task list. After a month of working a task list that grow faster than I can complete. I stopped that, maybe it's that crafter burn out.

I have a question for you Nivea, how do you hang the clothing up on the wall? I have some guns I want to display like that

Been wanting to give you a /tell in-game for awhile now but you are on perma-AFK, now I know why after hitting master myself

I have no idea yet what to do with the 20+ email of orders I have back logged and the constant tells I get in-game (maybe I'll just forward them all to you) Most of them are very vague in what exactly they want.

Some orders Ive been making and putting on my vendors and sending them a tell to come buy them, others I sent saying ill be available most of the day this Sunday for custom orders.

Since hitting master Ive spent the last 3 nights in my shop and cant see me leaving it only to check on my harvesters daily, Ive been having a steady stream of people coming in and bugging me hehe
I think tonight when i get in-game Im going to have to close my shop, put on AFK so I can sort my vendors out ready for the weekend rush

I hardly ever leave my shop now Logged out though because of the lag I will have to check after dinner tonight to see if the lag is still around.

Good system to track orders? My overkill solution is Access 2003 as frontend to SQL Server 2000 Dev Edition.

Heh, if I had a notebook and could transfer info between SWG on one computer and the notebook... that might work. I rather have a system in game.

I'm about halfway to master tailor - no shop, do custom orders for a customer base that is still growing =) But to keep track of it all - I got a notebook (the paper kind, not a computer) and started writing names, orders, quotes...I check them off in the margins as I fill them and email the patron that their order is ready. Currently, I do arrange to meet my customers to hand off orders - soon will do that via a vendor I hope. The notebook has multiple sections, so in another section I keep a list of the repeat customers and what their tastes are...in another section I track bazaar sales - which item, where it sold, how much it sold for (have taken things off the bazaar and reduced prices sometimes).

It's easy to flip through my notebook while logged into the game since I don't have a laptop or another computer close enough to maintain a spreadsheet/database tracking system for orders.
