Honestly, if I sold them too cheaply, I'd be way busier than I want to be at this point. Cheap does not mean better. If you spend more for an item, you're more likely to use it wisely and enjoy it more.

I am finally learning that my TIME is very valuable in SWG. Plus it took me forever to aquire the BE materials to begin with, no way am I cheapening my profession like that.

One person complaining means little. If most of your customers complain, that would be reason to investigate. I am finding time is worth quite alot as well.

I would just ignore comments like that, not even respond. Most people ignore it and understand anyway. As one subsequent poster put it: "Price is not an issue."

Just keep an eye on the market and make changes as needed.

Yup had another tailor come in my shop and started complaining about my prices ... you'd expect another tailor saying you sell too low and that is hurting the business but no, this one was saying I was wrong to sell those too high ... I just told her to go craft her own and start selling them at whatever price she could find nice.

Sell your clothing at the price you think is right, anyway there is always someone who will buy it.

I wouldn't worry about it. I charge 10k per panel of enhanced cloth (so jackets requiring two panels are 20k) and no one has complained. In fact, I have more orders than I can fill (I've had to stop advertising since I've gotten so many customers). I've even had a quite a few people tip me extra on top of the regular charges. BE enhanced clothes sell, and sell very well - once you explain exactly what they do.

Good luck with it, and don't lower your prices - at least not yet.

Akaara,

I have a lot of experience with this sort of thing, you see, I used to be an architect, lol.

There's really only one consideration here, and that is: are you happy with your current sales of these items? If yes, then don't give it another thought, you'll just end up getting frazzled. It's difficult not to take it personally, and to ignore these types who imply that you are "ripping them off", but you really do need to ignore it in this case.

If your sales aren't what you would like though, then you probably should at least take this information for what it is: some insight into a competitor of yours, and then take an objective look at what you might want to do better. Better supplier? Better location? Better advertising? But in any case, don't act just because of what someone else says, that's silly, do your own "homework" and draw your own conclusions.

Just curious, what are your prices for those?

I checked another tailor 3km away that is selling them for 2k less than me, and another told me that she sells them at 5k for the tissue... I still have customers, andnow I don't need the money and I just won't bother below a certain price. People should start to understand that.

Some people seem to take it as a personal affront if you charge anything above your production cost (and a few expect you to operate at a loss).

Charge as much as the market will bear and ignore the naysayers. That gives you a solid foundation from which to give discounts to people who earn them, not to people who demand them.

If I put bleeding defense +16 in with medic +12 then I charge 20 to 25k for a jacket or camos, for one BE componant I sell them for 8 to 10k, and sometimes for 6k. It depends on who I buy my BE tissues from really. I don't thinkmy prices are that high at all considering I have to pay for these upfront.

They are selling steadily and at a pace I can easily keep up with, which is what I like. If I price too low people will spend the same amount but just buy more, which means I would need to make more. lol

I have no idea what prices you're charging for those items, since I'm not on the Chilastra server. (An aside: You should probably set the server in your forum profile, or add it to your signature, because if you hadn't linked to the Chilastra forum I wouldn't have even known that much.)

I also have no idea how much your bioengineer is charging you. At this point, I've heard of the high end tissues going for any price from 500 credits up to 16,500 credits. If you're paying anywhere near the latter price, and building items that use multiple panels, and passing that cost along at a reasonable multiplier, then I don't blame that guy for getting sticker shock.

(I can actually imagine a white Gunman's Duster with active biosensors. I could also imagine it costing a tailor around 30,000 credits to make. I can't, however, imagine very many medics willing to spend 60,000 credits on a jacket.)

Would you believe I've actualy thought of raising my prices so I would have a little more time in the day to test things?

Sell as high as you can get away with. We have bearing on both the tailor AND bio engineer profession now. We don't want the bio engi's getting stuck selling their mods for 20cr a pop because we undercharged =D
