So I bought this backpack with 4 sockets on it. When I try to drop an attachment on it, the attachment (of course) goes into the backpacks inventory. How do I utilize the sockets on the backpack?

Kill them all with the utmost prejudice!

They're bugged and it can't be done.

You can place attachments in bandoliers, though. They occupy the same slotas backpacks so you'll still be able to get eight pieces of socketed clothing.

Just make sure you've got the spare inventory space to remove the pack
