Thread: I need a tailoring macro
go look at the armorsmithing boards for that trash, I mean macro
Really, you need to slow down, I did too much grinding with belts without macroing and now I don't know my clothes as well as I should. But that is rapidly changing, with the 2 orders I now get per day I should be competent by Christmas ![]()
I only have novice tailor and now field wear 1 -I still do ribbed shirts - at 140xp a pop - use the enter key or get 2 crafting units if u want it that bad.
I just sit and make ribbed shirts all day - (untilI start selling and have to restock the baazar or my vendor)
Ok, I guess some of the posters failed to understand the question, although I do appreciate the advice..The question was " Does anyone have a efficient macro? If you do not have or do not know of one, there is no reason to reply on this post. I do not need any smart a** comments from holier than thou powergamers that have nothing to do but play swg all day long. For those who would like to help me on this it would be greatly appreciated and if you have any questions that I can answer for you I would be happy. To one of the previous posts about going to the armorsmith board for this trash, I say to you this character is a tailor and not a armorsmith, figured that would be obvious..
Thanks in advance
Doing a quick search I found this on the armorsmith board...
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practise no item;
/createPrototype practise no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlotXX;
/selectDraftSchematic XX;
Then you just include a variation of this macro for each crafting kit in your toolbar and cycle through them. After you enter the items in the tool you hit the macro for that kit and it closes it on practice and opens the next one up. Then you enter the items in on that one and hit the next macro to close it on practice and open the third one.
The toolbarSlotxx should point to the next crafting kit box.
The selectDraftSchematic xx should point to the item you want to craft. This is diffrent from person to person so you need to play around with it some.
For ribbed shirts you need around at least 8 crafting kits.

There was a macro on the architect forum recently which looked like it would be helpful for grinding, but I don't remember the details. It looks like it saves quite a few keystrokes using the /nextCraftingStage command, but there is no way around having to choose your resources. It basically just saves your wrist a little effort, so I might try it. Anyway, just grinding does not make for a good tailor. Personally, it is something that I do in the lulls between doing things that serve customers and gathering resources (so that I can keep making things that the customers want). I would say grinding only takes up about 10% of my time, which is fortunately all I can stand.
Bah! Grinding is masturbation. You get where you're going, but you don't learn how to deal with other people and your tools, which is the whole point of this profession. Grinding with a macro is just automating the process.
The reason you're seeing most people tell you to take a hike is because they actually *enjoy* the profession and don't like seeing people grind through it in a couple of days just to make the top-tier items which are meant to be a reward for hard work and dedication to a craft.
I'll offer no assistance, you've already been given enough of a hint. And, frankly, if you're not even willing to do a search and use the message board tools, I don't see how you'll possibly be a decent tailor after you've burned through your thousands of resources to get XP.
i know it's just a matter of opinion, but i choose to express mine right now.
i can't stand macroing.
it's one thing when people have a problem with grinding, but macroing. come on.i know they put it in the game, but i dont think they did it with the intent of people effortlessly gaining skill.
is it THAT hard to grind? i certainly didn't think so. i actually had fun, because i would sit in the hotel and gamble while i did it ![]()
but yeah... macroing is bad ![]()
there's nothing wrong with grinding. not everyone that grinds is only tailoring for money. however, you shouldn't complain about tailoring xpbeing slow you only have 1 skill box filled, as many of us here went thru the same thing and made it to master, either by grinding or from selling clothing.
there are several suggestions above for commands to use while crafting. have funbeing a tailor, else it's not worth the time.even people that grind take weeks to get to master. master tailors aren't made in a day.
Hey guys,
Thanks for the positive posts, I was beginning to wonder. Being new to tailoring, I didnt know if macros were possible with it. For those that helped out and answered my questions, I really appreciate it.. For those that put their worthless 2 cents in, well get a life or mind your own business. Macros are in the game, they are legal and are not against the soe. If you choose to macro or not I wouldnt judge you one way or another. If any of you have any bh or master marksman,scout questions I would be glad to help since those are my main characters,.
Thanks again
WEEEEE another generalization of people that grind.
So the fact that I have about years of customer service under my belt ( both for other companies and a company I helped run) is thrown out the window because I decided to grind my way to master tailor.
I'm sure C-alaska, shayd, and madhattr don't feel that way.( just picking 3 customers I deal with on a regular basis)
I will grant you that I don't know off the top of my head who can where what and what colors its available in but I'm picking that up quickly and it has never been a problem with customers since I will try and make it if I'm not sure and if its not what they want I throw it on the bazaar and make them something they do want.
Sorry to go on and on here but just trying to prove a point that just because you grind it doesn't make you a bad tailor.
And I have an infinite macro that all you need to do is click resources and it will go until you stop it.
its easy enough to find if you look hard enough for macros on the board.
Heh and I like that. If you grind you don'tenjoy the tailoring profession you just want to make money.
