I know they were broken a while back and just opened up a locked container to find a skill tape for -2 for pistol aiming while standing. Being a Smuggler/Pistoleer this would be great to drop into one of the 4 sockets on my pack or cloak. Thanks - Bacacuba

Not unless you take them off before you log off and before you take a shuttle, and only put them back on afterwards. Try again when the next Big Patch goes live (some time next week, they're saying now).

My impression was that the attachments themselves have always been working, and it was just the "reporting" that was messed up (i.e., the shuttle thing.) Any confirmation or denial of this theory anywhere?

Oh, btw, that -2 attachment is a *bad* thing. As I understand it, with attachments, "plus is always good, minus is always bad." Even where it sounds like it might go the other way. E.g., with weapon speed numbers, the lower the better, but a "+2 speed" attachment will nevertheless improve your rate of fire.

From what I have learned it is not working.. Ill explain how I have come to this conclusion.. I purchased some socketed clothes I had some skill enhancer tapes from back in the day before the loot nerf.. I at the time was a novice CH and able to have up to 6 pets in datapad, I had a skill enhancer tape that was +2 pets.. now at first I was thinking maybe this would let me have more pets out.. no it would not.. well anyway. I applied it to the clothes along with some others.. (at that time I was getting the message when trying to tame "You have too many pets in this container.. blah blah you need to release one first.. blah blah" I put on the clothing and went out to find anything to tame.. found it.. clicked on the tame and it went into the process of taming.. creature tamed and stored.. now I had 7. saw another baby tamed that now had 8 saw another baby tried to tame that and then I got the message.. BUT then I did not know about the log problem with it so exited the game.. next day I come on I check data pad and the pets are still there, well those were just test pets I didnt really want them so I destroyed them.. went hunting.. didnt find any that day.. log off again next day Im on and find some pets I want, click on tame and bam got message "need to release..blah blah.." I read forums and people are stating there is a bug when you log off with clothing on it de-activates the skill enhancer on the clothing.. So now its useless.. I read in the pre-patch notes which states.

Other Bug Fixes

  • Grouping system rewritten to perform in context of local players
  • Group notifications now always on and go to group chat
  • /group command temporarily disabled
  • Autolooting disabled
  • Make adding a Skill Enhancer to an equipped socketed item update your skill bonuses correctly.
  • Fix attribute mods that lower a max attribute value to 0 causing the attribute value to be the max.
  • Fixed problem with selling items from inside a factory crate
  • Fixed an exploit where you could add charges to stimpacks.
  • Fixed an exploit where you could raise your secondary stats high enough such that using special moves a

Now I hope this fixes the problem but my only concern is that those items the bug rendered useless are not still useless and they are read correctly. Hope this doesnt mean that NOW when yo u add an enhancer it will work .. lets all hope..

There's a thread in Game Guides that seems to confirm Brad's thesis: "Yes, they're bugged, and yes, they work."

    http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=game_guides&message.id=61209

Examples given with Medical Use modifiers, which have a very binary "work/don't work" effect.
