Hi, I'm not a Tailor - although I'm thinking of becoming one - but a thing that I thought would improve the Tailor profession is if you would get the ability to let players try on clothes. As it is, I have to go to the Tailor's shop, and select things from the vendor, try them on, and if I don't like em, I have to give em back to the Tailor - not all Tailors like doing this, as I can imagine, for it's a lot of hassle.
However, I feel I am not being unreasonable when I say I like to try my clothes on before I buy em - so I advocate a new interface, maybe like the new Image Designer interface, where the Tailor can try a couple of clothes on the customer, andwhen thecustomerhas decidedwhathe likes, then the customer and the Tailor can trade.
I think it would really be something. Perhaps even a combination of a Tailor and ID interface for those who are trained in both professions.

I think thats a wonderful idea
I don't know how difficultit would be to implement, but it would make a lot of tailors and thier clients very happy I would think.

I for one think this is a bad Idea it already takes me forever to deal w/ customers to make em happy and fill all my other orders, but now your going to suggest that you make my time even longer? I can't do that... Most of us who do this proffesion full time have "Show rooms" visit em and see what you like, e-mail us w/ what color is availible for such and such item. But to make our proffesion even more time consuming than it is, is not what I'm looking for...

Hmmm...I was thinking more along the lines of some sort of interface with the vendor itself....where perhaps a client could click on an item of clothing in the vendor and see a little image of the outfit on them in a holo-projection or something. When the client really needs the assistance of something like that is when we are away from the store, after all.

Well, the interface would be nice if it could work with a vendor too. And I wasn't suggesting making it the only way to buy clothes, but for those tailors who like to offer this extra service, and for those customers who have difficulty making up their mind, it could be something interesting, I think.

Heh, I had put Plagvreugd's idea in another post without knowing there was already a thread. Sorry mate, didn't mean to steal it from you I just had the same idea the same time. Anyway the best solution would be what Plagvreugd proposed in the last reply: include the option to the vendors.
It's pretty much like real life. You go to the shop and the vendors show you the merchandize. It's only for the very special customers, when Armani himself would dress them.

No problem. If others thought of it too, it must be cos it was a good idea

I've always thought it would be a good idea, especially if it worked in conjunction with the vendors, but will the devs really spend the time to give something useful to the tailoring community?
At the moment I let customers offer unwanted items back to my vendor at the price they've paid so they can try items they may not have originally considered with no risk, but an interface would make life a lot easier for both of us.

I for one would probably leave tailoring if there was ever device that allowed people to pick out, and color their clothes ahead of time because it would suck all the creativity out of the process. You might as well just put a button on the interface where you put in some money and the clothes come out. Tailoring is not a profession where we can do much to distinguish our products. Every tailor makes clothes just as good as any other tailor once they reach master. What distinguishes us from each other is our creativity and customer service. Someone telling me exactly what items they want in exactly the shade they want is not very satisfying. Someone who just ground up to master tailor an hour ago can make the order. What is much more fun is when someone says, "make me a TKA outfit", I talk with them, find out what they are intrested in, look at their hair, skin and eye color, and make them something they really like! To me, that is what being a tailor is all about.

Momoko, I'm not sure we are on the same wavelength with this
What you seem to be talking about would be a very bad idea for the tailors but I think what Thewt had in mind was some way of seeing what a particular item clothing would look like on you, not a subsitute to a real tailor.
Although its not something I've had a major problem with myself, some customers want to try items on before they pay for them and the only way to do that at the moment is to trade the item to them, and even with all the honest customers out there I've heard the stories of people running off with stock without paying. An interface where we can place the clothing against an image of the customer so they can see how it would look, without having to trade them the items, would be very useful.

I probably overreacted a little bit. There have been *so* many threads in the past of people claiming that they have come up with a great idea to let customers design their own clothes and most tailors absolutely hate that idea.

If they made the test wearign like that of the ID option when looking at your new face/hair ect.
maybe allow a dressing room similar to the ID's "cloning stall" to try on clothign that is on a vendor.
