A little background information first, i'm partially colourblind (green / brown) and have been that way for all of my 33 years (obviously) yet still when i tell people their usual response is to point to something and ask "whats colour is that" *sigh* how original. it doesnt work like that, for anyone who may not know what it means its that i see green and brown as the same colour

Onto the rant, last night i was asked to make a white and green two-tone skirt, white ? no problem, green ? uh-oh. i should have refused. instead i explained my problem and that i would try my best if the customer was ok with it. so i made conversation with the client while i made 3 skirts, choosing "green" from 3 different places on the pallet. yes you guessed it all brown. hmm, i tried again and again and on the nineth try finally hit green. YAYY ME.

then they asked for a decorative vest in the same colour. no problem i thought i have mastered the green, so i made it and picked for the scarf the colour immediately to the left as a slightly lighter green, only to be asked why i had made it brown.

WHO DESIGNED THIS POXY PALLET !!!

ok rant over, now the request. i cant be the only person with this problem how have others worked-around it, or can anyone point me to a location / website which "names" the colours on the pallet.

Finally onto my idea, which needs me to explain something else.

my brother has the same problem as me yet is a successfull painter and decorator (no i'm not joking) in real life its easy. he carries a colour swatch with him, hands it to the client, they pick the colour. Each colour is named and referenced making it simple, easy and effective for him to do the job he likes doing despite his disability.

Why cant the colours on the pallet have names and references like that. or better yet why cant we have an interface, similar to the ID interface indicating the items selectable by us and coloursselectable by the client so that when clicking "accept" this information is saved as the default for the next crafting itemfor us to make.

this would help not just people like me but any tailor, i think, so that the customer can see the choice available and pick which one they like.

thank you for your time

Actually one of our top requests is a numbering system for the colors, so that matching is easier. Do you feel that would be useful to you?

Thank you for the quick response

yes anything like that would help. i actually started doing something to reference them myself, noting the "grid reference" for the colour and asking my in-game husband what colour it was but one time i resized the window and it shifted the grid around so, back to square one (literally).

I was talking with one of my clients on Kettemoor and it turns out that a friend of hers had wanted to be a tailor, but had the same problem you do. Well, maybe not the same colors, but in general, same idea. In offering to see if I could help out I crafted an in-game email with every full palette color, most families named (some of the ones towards the top of the tree I didn't bother with—there's only but so many ways to call a color "yuck" diplomatically.) If you'd like I can see about passing this on to you. It may prove useful.

Yep, this is the palette Syzygy and I use in our business partnership (we're opening the shop this weekend, I think).

okay well... each color has 6 lighter colors. And the grids generally go in groups of 3 or 2.

So you either have

xxxxxxx|xxxxxxx or xxxxxxx|xxxxxxx|xxxxxxx

If they're not going into groups of 2 or 3, resize the window until they do. Any time you have a palette it shoudl have either 14 boxes or 21 boxes across the top. From there you should be able to effectively number.
