Do you think it makes sense for Tailors to have their own factories? Is that important, or (as I suspect) kind of overkill? It seems to me that factories are more obviously useful for the engineering-oriented professions, and that tailors would mostly just want to run off loads of synthetic cloth now and then for the things specifically requiring "factory cloth."

Does it make more sense for a tailor to try temporarily "renting" time on someone else's factory? What are the upkeep costs on a factory like?

renting one would be the way I'd go. They just cost to main resources & maintence. Unless you are a multi-crafter (ie Armor & tailor or weapons & droids or tailor & chef....) Then the cost my be worth it.

And if you make one I'd suggest putting it near to wear you have your resource extractors placed. That way you could just run items back and forth with out having to travel too far.

The NRE costs of operating a factory are high for small runs (Mainly the recovery deed you'd pay to save on maintence). I'd consider running one full time if I had a few steady armorcrafting customers. Otherwise, I'd try to rent one to run bunch of factory crates for myself.

Not sure if I'd want to be the factory owner renting it to others as I do this in real life. (electronics contract manufacturing). It's a little too much like work, haha. But that's a workable idea. Get a few tailors together and time share the factory until everyone has what they need.
