Thread: price for factory synth cloth?

I think I made a huge biff tonite by only charging resource and 2k for 2 crates of factory cloth(50 synth total).

When I went out to the factory for another run I had to pay buko maintinance, then pay for the run and add power.

So what is a fair charge? I am an independant tailor and armorsmith and want to help my fellow players but i dont want to be broke either! (like I am now)

Not sure if people charge more for factory cloth or not (still want to know myself, pricing is driving me nuts on tailored items) but I read elsewhere here that most people were charging 100 per cloth so yesterday when an armorsmith contacted me for 30 cloth, I gave him that price. He offered me 150 per if I could do it quickly which I did. He now wants another 30 and is waiting for me to get able to make factory cloth (have an order in for a factory) and reinforced cloth so he can advance.

This reminds me, what factory does it take for the cloth? I believe I read that it takes a wearables factory. I would have thought it would take an items factory since cloth isn't wearable. Is this correct? Don't want tobuy the wrong kind. Thanks.

When factories and tailors who can make synthetic cloth are scarce, you can ask for 10k for a crate of 25 cloth. Armorcrafters are selling the mabari armor they make with it for a nice profit, even at this price, right now. As cloth becomes more available, the price will drop (supply and demand, you know?) but I would not go under 2500 for a crate of 25 cloth, 100 credits per piece. Reinforced fiber panels use more resources and need higher skill, sho i would charge more for them.

Yakana, yes, a wearables factory. Rule of thumb for what factory you need for something: What specialized crafting tool do you use to make the item? There are 4 kinds of tools and4 kinds of factories. Find the factory that corresponds with the tool you would use to make the item. Since cloth is made with a clothing and armor tool, you need a wearables factory.

Thanks for the reply, but you do know that cloth is makable with a general crafting too also, right? That is one reason I thought it would be item since it is an "item". What would you make with an item factory then if not components etc?

Also, what do most people do about factories? Do you leave them up and pay daily maintenance or do you make a run and then destroy and reclaim the deed til you need it again? Some friends and family and I have a house and a factory for his weapons and we put it up to test it for speed and cost. Seems they are awfully slow and you can make stuff faster by hand so it's not good to make things that don't require factory items. Also has anyone noticed the exp you get when using one? I remember them saying they cut the exp to 1/10 of what you get manually since it was faster, but since it is actually slower, this don't make sense.

gah, **edit** forums are being pounded.

here is my guideling on pricing. I should prolly say higher so you go with this one instead, but oh well.

Synth cloth - 50 hand made, 250-500 depending on how many selling factory cloth.

Reinforced Panels - 250-500 hand, 1k factory.

Look at how much armour sells for, and how we are seriously undercharging and giving armoursmiths intense profits...profits from our work and xp

Hmm, this one is a tough issue for me too. I really don't like grinding out hundreds of synth panels manually. But, I am no where near ready to buy a factory. So because I kept getting spammed like mad all day yesterday, I set a price of 200 per hand made synth panel. That may be a little high, but people have gladly paid that price. One guy paid me 300 per panel if I would make his before the other 3 people I had in line. I'm sure when factories are more common, it won't be such a big deal because you won't have to spend hours grinding out just panels. Prices should drop a lot then I think.

This is a silly question, when you refer to selling crates to someone, how do you get/make a crate and how much can they store?

Thank you.

Yakana, when you say the cloth is craftable with a general tool, did you mean the Generic Crafting Tool or a Weapon, Droid, and General Item tool? The latter is one of the specialized tools I was referring to, don't think the cloth shows up on it.

So, an Items Factory will make items that show up using the Weapon, Droid, and General Item Tool: weapons and weapon parts, droids and droid parts, and items that are found under General when you open a crafting tool, such as fireworks or crafting tools. Items made by a Master Artisan are found here also.

Similarly, the components for medicines are made with a Food and Chemical Tool and would be manufactured in a Food and Chemical factory.

As far as keeping a factory - Mine will be paid for and running as much as possible. I get experience on every item it makes and though I can make a reinforced fiber panel faster by hand, it will make them for me while I do other things, such as sleep... which I seem to be doing far too little of these days. I seem to get normal experience per item for a factory made part, but it does trickle in much slower than it used to be in beta since the factory works slowly now.

Yes, I meant the generic crafting tool. That is why I thought it would be item since it doesn't require a specialty tool like some items do. I usually have 3-4 tools going at one time when I am mass producing for an order. Am hoping to get a factory as soon as the guy I know gets enough resources. I know other people who have guild association that probably could make one now, but myself and a few others decided when we met while sampling to help each other out. It may take me a bit longer but at least it is someone I know and hang out with and not a random stranger I may never see again. To me this is more important.

Some of the higher armors require factory produced pannels so you won't be able to crank them out by hand forever. Of course on the bright side you can work on xping while filling an order w/ the factory.
