Of course there's a point. Here it is:

You have a +25 Medical Experimentation skill tape. It's worth tons of money. As soon as you put it in something that can't be worn by part of the population, it looses value. If you put it in a wookie-only article of clothing, it's devalued immensely. But if you put it in an article of clothing that can be worn by everyone, anyone can use it. So, if the item of clothing ever needs to be put up for sale, everyone can bid on it without fear of not being able to wear it. It's not about fashion, it's about functionality. As long as you get that extra +25 Exp/Asmbly, it doesn't matter.

See what I mean?

The problem with chef aprons is that they take the same body slot as the crafter's apron (which can't be used by everyone but you don't want to have the non-wookie species having to choose between a CA modded chef's apron and the crafter's apron).

Has anyone ever come up with a comprehensive list of clothes that every single species can wear? The point of such a list would to have a set of clothes that have been modified with Assembly/Experimentation tapes up to +25/+25, that no one could look at and say, "Oh, I can't wear that!".

…not much point in that. By creating such an outfit you're limiting 7 of the 8 species to 6 articles rather than the 8 they'd normally be able to wear.

A purple Bakemasters hat is currently part of the outfit of my master tailor Twi'lek. Just for the attention-effect it has, not because I would consider it looking good.

No, there really isn't a point. How many +25 tapes have you ever heard of, let alone seen? Right now, post-Borgle-nerf, the highest tapes that drop with regularity are +10s. As has been pointed out, there is only one combination of items that would allow for +25 at this rate—belt/bandolier/chef hats—and even that is going to be rare. Usually, you're going to find +4-+8 SEAs and consider them to be "good." So the chances that you're going to get a +25 suit in 3 items is next to non-existant unless you're insanely rich, and at that point you can afford to contract a tailor to help you.
