Thread: Stop whining Tailoring is great!
I agree with most of the complaining you all do, I complain plenty myself, but considering the competition, we have it pretty good.
- Easy Grinding - Considering the amount of time and $$$/Resources other crafting careers take, this is pretty easy. I get around 1.3k XP per minute. So it can be mastered in one day of playing. I have sampled other careers life Chef...and all I got was a sour taste in my mouth. I experienced very little sales, very hard leveling, and very limited options.
- Good Business - Tailors get great business. And most players keep coming back unlike other careers, such as armorsmith/weaponsmith. Once you get a good gun/armor you don't need another for a few months.
- Good Progress - One of my favorite things about the profession was that you get tons of new schematics with each skill. Even if you only get a few skills you can still make a decent wardrobe.
- Fun! - Tailor seems to be the most fun crafting career because of the customizable ablility. The only fun about other crafting careers is watching the money slowly roll in.
That seems to sum up most of my opinions. Please comment/flame as you please.
I didn't mean whining...shall I put it:
"Making the devs aware of important problems that need fixing."
I know I'll get flamed for this, but...
The tailor profession was in pretty good working shape, since launch, most of the others have just had bug fixes too, also look at the poor bio-engineers.
All professions have bugs, and we've had some fairly serious ones at times, but the fundamentals have always been sound.
i agree with everything:
but...
my income based on time spent with customers is low... it takes forever to make make a nice outfit custom, and the payout is fairly low.

Haha. Of course, if you don't want to grind, progress is painfully slow. Tailors have the slowest non-grinding advancement rate of any crafting class I've tried so far.
Part of what you see is whining is just that we want a little dev attention. Most of our main improvements since release have been bugfixes. I've been a tailor since beta. Many of our bugs and issues are things we've compained about since then. So yeah, some of us are getting a bit frustrated.

Depends how rich your customer is. Those with money to burn will tip extra. Even so, it still isn't that much money per time spent. To really make money, it's best to have well stocked vendors (this takes a few hundred items at least for a tailor). Most of those I make custom stuff for also buy lots from the vendors, and tend to be more loyal about buying from me and more likely to recommend the shop. That's where custom orders really make the money. It's more of an indirect thing.
Unless you have very high prices of course.

That's odd... I wasn't aware we were all whining? Please forgive us? heh
Exactly. Not even sure I remember the last time I read any whining here, but then again I don't recall reading anything from the original poseter before so perhaps he was in an alternate universe.
As far as the money goes, I agree that the face-to-face sales are inefficient money making endevors, but are the most enjoyable imho. Money is fine with tailor though I'm sure we'll all agree whether you go the vendor, face to face, or bazar routes (or all three). It's mostly just a matter of what you enjoy the most.
Well i look at it like this, while face-to-face is ineffeicient, it really doesnt bother me unless they are really really picky!!
We dont need good quality materials, or even a whole lot of materials, and the rare stuff we do need is in small quantity as well.
So i have no real problem. Actually my most bouhgt itme is a formfitting undershirt in black with be mods, i sell sooo many of them and get no cutomer grief...
