Thread: No Sockets on Artisan Level Clothing
I am just wondering if anyone has had this issue...
I craft weighted wookie pullover - no sockets
I craft with the same materials a higher level wookie item - 4 sockets
I craft leather gloves - no sockets
I craft leather work glove with same materials - 4 sockets
Same thing with wrapped skirts, soft undershirts, and shorts
This just started for me a couple of patches ago and with the last major patch I just thought it was a glitch. But I am starting to wonder if it is something that i am just experiencing (I hope not) or is this a known bug.
Let me know.
FYI, tools I am using are 14.19 effectiveness and at 42 effectiveness crafting station.
Well that would explain it then...
As i went up in tailoring and also in my combat profession, i had to give up the engineering tree.
Thank you for your input.
And i agree ... that is pretty darn lame that i have to have engineering skills to make clothing with sockets...when i can make higher level clothing with sockets regularly.
**DEVS** maybe this is an issue that some may want to address...not all tailors desire or can be a master aritsan.
If you think that Artisan should be structured differently, you should put more thought into your proposal. Would it be appropriate if people who aren't planning on getting any of the Tailoring branch of the Tailoring tree could never make Artisan-level clothing with sockets? Those are the kinds of questions you need to consider with this issue.
I used to have master architect, untill i realized that i'd save far more credits with merchant skills than i'd make selling MA components and the odd Uber CDef.
Well I beg to differ here. There is an issue with artisan clothing not having any sockets, or not giving 4 when you are Master Tailor. And don't say it's cause of no artisan skills, my tailor is also a Master Artisan and it takes me many many tries to get 4 sockets on anything from the domestic arts line. What is funny really, is that I had NO problem at all getting 4 sockets on these items until I got Master Tailor. Now that I am, I can't anymore.
I've gotten to the point that I don't even make anything under novice tailor now, what little they sell for is not worth the resources lost to make them repeatedly to get the sockets.

I've run into this myself - had someone order some leather gloves recently and I thought I'd NEVER get 2 - 4 socket pairs.
Something has changed - I've got all artisan boxes as well. Nearly anything I ever made used to pop 4 sockets, now I'm lucky if I get 3 on an artisan item.

I think that would be completely appropriate. Just as Dom Arts level folks can't make things in the best colors, they should have a very low chance of sockets. And a Master Tailor should be able to make lower level socketed clothing without leaving skill points in Eng.
It seems that Dom Arts sockets are tied to artisan experimentation or customization. I just don't understand why they aren't connected with tailor experimentation or customization instead, just like our colors.
As it is now, sockets are actually fairly worthless. Most everything we create has tons of them, and there are precious few skill tapes to go around. If they were a little rarer, and possibly even a result of both tailor customization skill and resource quality, it would make more sense.

Right now I am getting a lot of clothes with 2 or 3 sockets on *all* clothes, including tailor clothes. Fortunately, most people don't worry about sockets, so it hasn't hurt at all. I still usually get 4 sockets, I think that something has changed recently to make it a little less common.
The reason you get more sockets if you have engineering is because it goes on artisan assembly.
In the same sense I can make betterpersonal harvesters (rate 4 WOOOHOOO) and weapon power ups if I have the domestic arts line because of the added experimentation points/assembly from taking up more boxes of artisan. These are ARTISAN items. not tailor or architect or weaponsmith. Elite profsobviously have superior items. And besides...If they made artisan level items suck even if you're master artisan what would be the point of having it? I wouldnt master itjust to makegimpy ol' control units. I don't think theres anything to worry about anyway. I'm certain everybody isn't going to start wearing wrapped skirts and short sleeved shirts and put you out of business =P
