Never before I became a Master Tailor did I notice so many people who just don’t ... match. They’ll have on three sort-of-similar shades of blue that are supposed to be the same, or even worse, a half a dozen black items and no two are the same.

I suspect that the #1 cause of this disparity (at least in many cases) is beyond our control - some items simply respond to the colors differently. No matter how hard I tried last night, I could not get Padded Workpants to match a Reinforced Heavy Jacket, even when I used the same exact color from the same exact pallet! I feel for the folks’ who have outfits that don’t want to co-operate with the color schemes, but it makes me wonder ...

About the people who obviously have “similar” shades on: going back to my example with the troublesome pants, I tried the varying brightness of the first two “gray scales” on the master Pallet (the first one is more tan, the second more blue) to try and get them to line up. However, I regularly see folks who have tan-black coats, blue-black pants, another tint of black on their duster, and more! You don’t often notice it until you train your eye (or happen to be looking at someone’s outfit for some reason), but a matched set of items looks MUCH better than unmatched ones.

Are these players getting all their clothes off the bazaar, piece by piece, from different Tailors (nothing wrong with that), and just not noticing they have a zillion different shades of one color? Do they not care that they flat-out don’t match? Are Tailors not picking the colors and matching them correctly (I know it can be extremely hard, when someone brings you an item and says, “Match this!”)?

I’ve taken to “correcting,” my close friends clothing (they take it in stride, or tease me about it) by offering them the nearly identical, but matching item for free. Has anyone else run in to folks who don’t line up their colors correctly, or is it only epidemic in my own home town? Is there any market in offering the “correct” items to people who already have an established outfit?

all i know is, it drives me crazy also. If i point it out to them, most are willing to purchase a new peice that matches. I've been not matching when i fight, but just because i ran out of the be cloth i used to make one piece, and sold the matching pants. <sigh> and technically red and pupleyblue kinda match. but i don't think so.

I think that maybe people just don't notice. I see a lot of people who's outfit just does not seem to work although they are all one 'color'. I know that it is sometimes impossible for me, even as a master tailor, to exactly match different pieces of clothing because of palette differences and shading, so I sometimes make a mismatched outfit. I can usually make it so that the entire outfit goes together, though. After all, how many of us wear matching clothes from the same dye lot in real life most of the time? Its often better to try to make the clothes deliberately not match nicely then to try to match as close as possible.

I find the best way for me to make my mark as a master tailor is to sell lines of clothing on my vendor. I won't try to force others to wear a matching outfit but if they stop at my vendor they will be more prone to buy the various parts that are closely matching to make a nice outfit over just maybe one piece as a fit it in there thing.

Like real life some people just do not have fashion sense or just do not care.

I think my biggest pet peeve right now is that two-tone look. It can be very striking depending on how it's done, but many people just seem to always usejust two matching colors on an entire outfit because it's easy. It can be a nice look, but it's just sooooo overdone.

My outfits that seem to get the most compliments are the ones that don't really "match" at all except for maybe an accent color or accessory pulling the whole look together.
