I've seen a couple FAQ's but no answer as to whether I should also do some engineering to get those bone chestplates for exp for the first box of Tailor. Should I do that or just do a bunch of general crafting tools?
Also, is there a good list of macros out there that actually work? I know some are tough to implement if you don't follow the directions right but I swear I'm doing it right.
Thanks in advance...

PS is it true that doing military clothes first makes the other boxes go faster? Money isn't an issue I've done well mining.

Hmmm... I got to novice tailor, both times, without touching the engineering line. When I did architect, I used personal harvesters in eng 3(?) to hit novice architect - but that was I think 33k of general crafting xp, as opposed to 19k for novice tailor (something like that anyway). It's completely up to you, but it's doable either way. The first time I did just normal clothes to sell on the bazaar (geesh a year ago) and leveled that way, the second time (on TC) I ground soft undershirts, because those were the materials I happened to have on hand.

Travel packs, in dom art 4 is the way to go. Travel packs sell really well, are useful, and are worth a decent amount of xp each. They only require 5 hides each, so it's not like you have to hunt forever ( like you would with bone). 50 fiberplast + 10 polymer + 5 metal + 5 hide = 70 resources, = 140 xp. Add 5% for practice mode, if you don't want to sell the travel packs. Aprox 160 backpacks to novice tailor ( including fails), if you make them all. Approx 150 if you do them in practice mode.

Don't waste your time in the Engineering line. I did that back at launch time bc I didn't know any better. You will just waste precious tailoring time. :0

Engineering used to be useful because it gave you 4 sockets to domestic arts clothes. Now, you can spend 24 points to have 4 sockets 15% of the time... So I wouldn't bother.

The only real use I had for engineering IV was for bone armor chest plates. They give you about 300 a pop in practice mode, so they were great for grinding up to novice tailor or anything. I dropped them all for the skill points, but it was nice when I needed to grind gen crafting exp.

I don't know about whether or not you need it i am a master artisan along with master tailor...but having said that i just made master tailor in 2 days....I went up the first tree and did ribbed shirts till i got causal 3 and did cloaks the rest of the way through....I got 147 xp per shirt and 288 per cloak...(plus practice bonus)...only needed hide and fiberplast to do it that way sorry can't really remember what i needed for ribbed shirts as the past two days have completely blurred into one.....all i see are crafting screens even when i close my eyes lol
