So last night i'm minding my own buisness doing a factory run and get a tell from an unknown, now i'm used to the random tell it usually turns into an order..this is how this one went:
bob (not his real name)
bob - hello
me - hey
bob - can i ask u a for a favour?
me- maybe wachya need?
bob - can u make me a synthetic cloth schematic?
me - sorry bob i only sell my synth cloth by the crate
bob - i find getting a schematic is easier
me - i sell synth coth by the crate on my vendor for 2500 credits in Mercrator on talus
bob- can i gat a deal if i order alot 10 - 20 crates
me- i can assure you that 2500 is a great price and i sell 20-30 crates daily at that price with no complaints
bob- ya i know its is a good price, but i find it cheaper to make my own
me - ok np good luck to u
bob- good luck
this was the short version
now i must say that "bob" was polite but, do i ask himto make meschematicsfor the armour that is his livelyhood NO,
why would I give away the stuff i spent my skill points on tosecure certian schematics, tailor goodsare not a big ticket items Idepend on my component sales to support a good part of my buisness
So I just wanted to say "I thumb my nose at all you tailors who give/sell schematics"
/end rant

I just make schematics for friends... I don't even sell components because I think it's a rip off.

what part is a rip off?
it is a player bases economy you make things to sell, that is why they have cross proffesion schematics to ensure that crafters are not entirely self sufficent therefore, building the economy

Well docs sell their components at 20 cpu, we get to sell ours at 5 cpu... do the math hehe. making components just gives you more work harvesting resources for less cpu than you get making clothes with them. Not worth it to me.

I really hate those random /tells sometimes cause you know the person wants something, it's just a matter of "what". The other night, well, early morning I get a tell from this chick that I don't know:
Chick: Hello
Me: Hi
Chick: Where are you? (and I'm thinking "why is this person that I don't know -wanting to know my whereabouts?")
Me: Why?
Chick: I'm just trying to make conversation
Chick: I live in ...blah, blah?
Me: Oh is that a player city on Tat?
Chick: huh?
Me: Sounds like that is player city on Tat or something
Chick: Can I order a Grand Ballgown, Luxurious Gown, Intricate Dress, Grand Healers Robe, (and 2 other dresses I can't remember)
...lol...she was making silly conversation with me to sneak in an order! lol....anyways...I told her that I've been busy doing other things lately and that it may take a day or 2toget to(cause my playing time is screwy too). I told her to please email her request to me w/color choices...lol...and she never did!
I ended up doing a /mistell to her later on and she's like "can you make that stuff for me" and i'm like "PLEASEemail me your order w/color choicesand I'll do it" lol, I told her this request at least 3 times!!!...*shrug* oh well, it's not my loss...

Slegger; You can sell those crates of cloth for about 250 credits per. I sell 40 crates in less then a week on average.

Oh my god, what a great idea! Next time I get asked for a schematic I'm going to say "Sure, in exchange for a helmet schem—I've got all the resources, I just need you to make the schem for me…I find it's cheaper that way." Bwahahahaha…you're a genious!

That happened to me last night as well, hell, it happens to me nearly every night, but not only for synthetic cloth, but also for trim, rfp, bio nutrients, etc. The only difference is that the conservation ends as soon as they ask for such a thing, lol. Arthur don't play that.

Hehe, actually, I've been collecting resources for a 1000 run of varasian brandy. I've got all the stuff I need now, next time I get asked for bio nutrient schematic I'll be getting a brandy schematic back in return. Approximate value: 10 million credits. Cost for harvesting the ingredients: minimal, plus since I used heavy harvesters to harvest the materials I need, I'll have enough left over for about 4-5 more such runs.

I remember the big problems with this at the beginning were that it was directly taking sales and XP away from novice tailors.

Oh I hope you get asked soon, I really want to know the chef's response ![]()
I used to do schems for free, then I realised what a bad idea it was and now keep my vendor well stocked with crates of cloth. The only schematic I'm happy to makefor freeis the wookiee padding, and that's because I refuse to make it myself (I'd rather make metal bikinis with that precious wooly hide). Guildies are another matter and we normally work out some sort of exchange of goods.
