Hey taliors,

My name is vos' Spacewalker and i'm new to talioring. How I came into talioring is, belive it or not, to make myself a suit for my in-game wedding. I know i had alot of fun making the cloths becuase they are so customizable. I just had a few questions for you all.

What is your average income?

Does having exp points really matter?

Do you need the best quality resources to make good cloths?

and lastly, how often do you have to restock your vendor(s)?

thanks for all of your help!

you're probably going to get a lot of different answers, as every tailor run their shop differently. I'm a master tailor/master merchant, and since I have spare vendors I also sell my fiance's chef tissues and meds.

1. (just tailoring related items) generally 6 digits, sometimes 7... I do sell tailoring resources, looted schematics, and components, so that helps.
2. not really.
3. nope. I use any ol' crap lying around and save the good stuff for Odi's BE
4. I'm paranoid about restocking, so I do it whenever I can... that usually means more than once a day. I'm crazy and handmake my items, so that takes forever O.o

Welcome to tailoring

What is your average income? I can hit over a million on some days, but that with selling BE clothing and component crates as well as 'regular' clothing.

Does having exp points really matter? Not really, there was a theory that they helped with getting 4 sockets so I always wear +25 Exp but I still have days when I just cannot get a 4 socket item

Do you need the best quality resources to make good cloths? Nope, and that's one of the nicest things about being a tailor. No competingwith the other professions for resources

and lastly, how often do you have to restock your vendor(s)? Usually every day but I do try to take a break at weekends.

I think the thing to stress is that you have to run your business as you have the time and inclincation to do, not to be "the best." For example, I have run a 2000-stock operation in which I stock 2-3 times a week and spend at least one weekend day on vendor relisting. I've run a two-shop operation. I've taken on a business partner. I've specialized in BE clothing, and there have been times when I haven't stocked any BE clothing. I don't think I've ever stocked jewelry. I've leaned my stock toward combat, or entertainment, depending on my clientele. There have been times when I couldn't keep hawtpants in stock because they sold too quickly. I've refused to take custom orders, and I've gone exclusively custom order, dumping my vendors. I've been in big guilds and made guildies pay full price for simplicity, and I've been in other guilds where I give away clothing for free.

Our profession is very adaptable, and if you find that its demands on you are unreasonable for your playtime, there are plenty of ways to make it work. I know of one tailor who specializes only in jewelry. A business partner is also a viable option if you find you are selling faster than you are crafting. And finally, there's the option I'm currently using, which is that of the traveling tailor. Demands on my time over the last few months (though I have much more time now) and the desire to participate in more guild hunting activities caused me to cut the huge time-suck of vendor babysitting out. Sure, I make less money, but the game has to fit your life, both IRL, and in-game.
