And they're looking pretty grim for us. The pertinent parts are repeated below.
Artisan Business 3 Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (50) items, for a total of (50) items for all vendors
Merchant Novice Get (2) Vendors, that will hold (60) items, for a total of (120) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 1 Get (3) Vendors, that will hold (70) items, for a total of (210) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 2 Get (4) Vendors, that will hold (80) items, for a total of (320) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 3 Get (5) Vendors, that will hold (90) items, for a total of (450) items for all vendors
Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (100) items, for a total of (600) items for all vendors
Merchant Master Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (110) items, for a total of (660) items for all vendors

That's... Not good.
Do backpacks with things in them count as 1 item or 1+contents?

Don't forget the *delete if not checked in 2 weeks thing*. I just got back from Annual Training with the National Guard. 17 days. I can see 30 days, delete. Or 14 days, no check, drop off the map. I won't even bother mentioning what I'd do if this limit goes in, I know I'm preaching to the choir!

I am now using four vendors for my tailor instead of one. I really didn't want to have to pay four vendors, not to mention having an outlet on another planet is now out of the question. Bleh! This is one of those things I know I wouldn't care about if it had always been like this. But now I am grumpy.

NOW IN STOCK!
- 1 pair of shoes....peach! you better like them (BTW does a pair of shoes count as 1 or 2 items?)
-1 bandolier....its a bit tattered but its the only one you can get this side of the galaxy
- 1 cloak....its getting cold in here when i cant afford to keep the heat on in my shop
- 1 pair of comfortable slacks....I used to stock camo's but i kept selling them too quickly
- 1 hat....one size fits all. Right?
- ..............................................
- 1 Pissed off Customer.......priceless
You DEVs need to get a grip on yourselves! Stop ruining our game!

Pretty much kills the option to have at least one of each item on a vendor so people can actually see what you can make.
If you thought the slew of "I need cloths" or "I need a shirt" or "I need pants" or <insert vague request here> requests were bad, I can just imagine how bad it will get when you have regular people having to add their "could you make me an exquisite gown?" into the mix as well.
I hope they think REALLY hard about this. I also hope that it goes the way of the "Crafter Revamp" on experimentation. I honestly had hoped they would have gotten the hint at Fan Fest when they mentioned the possibility of vendor item caps and the room went cold. There was an audible hiss at the suggestion from the attendees. It was all about database size then (and, I guess, is now), but if you just take the first steps of what's listed in the patch notes for merchants, that database is going to go wide open in the vendor realm. All merchants and players wanted was to get rid of the empty and "illegal" vendors. Guess crafters (and players) can't get one good thing without a good pummeling (to death?) by the nerf bat.

The database won't be an issue after the October character wipe. It will have gone over a year without a purge, so I think it's safe to estimate it will decrease by half. (So that's not a good enough reason for this nerf.)
I'll be cancelling my tailor account if this goes through as is. There's just no fun in stocking a handful of items and having to spend my playtime keeping up with vendor inventories.
