*goes back to vacation after 2 very irate posts in the corre forum*
Is this a trial ballon - will these be the final figures? Probably - and probably not respectively but ya know this isn't the first time SOE has threatened to blow our heads off and try to make us feel better with a last minute reprieve of - ok, we'll only cut off one leg. I'm tired.
I worked hard on my shop - and it was the one I always wanted. I worked hard on this website and customer education so my customers got the finest service with the most accurate information. I'm tired.
I wish SOE well, but I will be closing up shop if they have decided that running a popular efficient storefront is harmful to their game. I'll wait to actually hit the cancel button till a final verdict - but I suspect no matter what they decide on in the end, it will still strangle my selections - therefore my business - therefore my accounts.
Tailors have 235 items they can make and sell. 235. You would not even be able to make 1 of each item and place it on ONE vendor even at the Master Merchant level. Please explain the logic in that to me. As a tailor, I like to make sure at least one of each item that I can make is available on my vendor at all times. I also like to make more of certain popular items in several different colors. I have 3 working vendors right now with approximately 800+ items between all of them. 1 vendor is my main clothing vendor. 1 vendor is my “augmented clothing” vendor. 1 vendor is for custom order pick-ups.
o Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (100) items, for a total of (600) items for all vendors
I only have enough skill points for 4-0-4-4 Merchant = 600 total items for me if this “fix” goes live. 800 – 600 = 200. 200 items that I either need to delete or store until I can sell them. I only have room in my houses for 150 items max and all my houses are maxed out with spare resources and displayed clothing. So, -25 items I could sell on the bazaar; leaves me with approximately 175 items I have to just delete. Yay me!
Now that I have my inventory down to where I can now re-stock. Let’s remove my previous vendors and “re-organize”. Since I will be forced to give up my current setup and utilize all 6 vendors available to me. I will still reserve 1 vendor for Custom Orders (it’s a must).
How to do this? I have a few options available to me. I can still try to make all clothing options available and simply split the categories among the 5 vendors I have available. Let’s take a look at the categories the game has available. (doing this all from memory so bear with me) I will also point out everything that is not listed under appropriate categories.
===============================================================
Bandoliers = 6
Belts = 17
Bodysuits = 8
Bracelets = 5 (Listed under Jewelry not Clothing – Jewelry has it’s own category outside of the Clothing category and is often overlooked if at a Tailor shop looking through the Clothing category.)
Cloaks = 1
Dresses = 24 (Items that don’t really belong under this heading: Administrator’s Robe, Councilman’s Robe, Grand Healer’s Robe, Plain Robe, Plain Short Robe, Robe & Exotic Leotard) There is a category for “Robes”, why aren’t the Robes listed there?
Footwear = 14
Handwear = 9
Headwear = 13
Jackets = 23 (Items that don’t really belong under this heading: Spec Ops Duster, Dress Robe) Again with the Robe and the Duster? People, including myself, do not consider this a jacket; it is more fitting in the Cloak category.
Misc. = 10 (ALL SKIRTS and a few wookiee items, but I list those seperately.)
Necklaces = 12 (Listed under Jewelry not Clothing – Jewelry has it’s own category outside of the Clothing category and is often overlooked if at a Tailor shop looking through the Clothing category.)
Pants = 26 (Items that don’t really belong under this heading: Short Skirt, Short Wrap. Both are skirts – why can’t they be under a “Skirt” category?)
Rings = 2 (Listed under Jewelry not Clothing – Jewelry has it’s own category outside of the Clothing category and is often overlooked if at a Tailor shop looking through the Clothing category.)
Robes = 3 (Items that don’t really belong under this heading: Gunman’s Duster. ‘nuff said… why is it under Robes?)
Shirts = 29
Vests = 9
Wearable Containers = 5 (listed under Misc. à Wearable Containers – this is the Misc. category outside the Clothing category and is often overlooked if at a Tailor shop looking through the Clothing category.)
Wookiee Wear = 19 (Oh, My Bad! There is no separate Wookiee category – have fun filtering through all these categories to find what you, if you’re a wookiee, can wear!)
===============================================================
There are your 235 items. Let’s try to put some of these categories into sensible groups so we can figure out what vendors I need.
Vendor #1 – Wookiee Wear: Let’s make it easy on them (someone has to) = 19 separate items – very easy to stock this vendor to 100 items and have a good selection. Yay for Wookiees!
Vendor #2 – Accessories Vendor: Bracelets, Rings, Necklaces, Wearable Containers, Bandoliers, Gloves, Hats, Shoes. = 78 This will be a tight fit keeping a decent selection of items on it. Which means I’ll have to not stock “ugly” or unpopular items. Which, ironically enough, the ugly items are often the unpopular items. Yay for there being a butt-load of ugly items!
Vendor #3 – Pants & Shirts Vendor: Pants and Shirts only. = 55 items. Hmm.. even two of each item wouldn’t fit in the 100 item limit. Time to cut out all the “ugly” and unpopular shirts and pants… probably putting me down to actually having about 15 shirts and maybe 10 pants. New item count 25! Yay for Ugly Clothes! Now we can have a nice selection of only the items I think you should wear.
Vendor #4 – Skirts, Dresses & Robes: Oh wait, robes are all over the place – that might get confusing. Skirts, Dresses & Bodysuits: Skirts, which hopefully now with the 100 item limit no one will ever “need” to sort by category – so you can now find skirts simply by clicking on “ALL”. = 42 items. Might be a bit hard to have a nice selection due to fleshwraps and exotic leotards and well.. dresses, falling under this category – but once again, we can just leave out the ugly items and should be good to go.
Vendor #5 – Outerwear: Jackets, Cloaks, Robes, Vests: = 36. No problem keeping this vendor with a nice selection of items. Wow. Easiest vendor I’ll have to stock, besides Wookiee Wear.
Vendor #6 – Custom Orders: ‘nuff said.
Oh wait… I totally forgot a vendor for BE Clothing and Limited Schematic Items!!!
Kill the Wookiee vendor – sorry Wookiee’s it’s the nature of the beast.
Vendor #1 – Augmented Clothing: Any BE Clothing I feel like making and any limited use schematic items I have been able to get my hands on and in turn make.
*whew* I guess this “fix” isn’t so bad at all! No one will be allowed to buy ugly clothing or accessories from me unless they custom order it. I will also not be able to supply Wookiee’s with clothing with this new vendor set up, but oh well. They can always custom order. Oh wait. I don’t have the ugly items or Wookie wear on display in my “Showroom” due to the fact that my house can only hold 150 items. (235 total tailor items – 150 = 85 ugly/Wookiee items left out). Sorry for those of you out there that like to walk the “cutting edge” when it comes to fashion. You will now only be allowed to wear what I feel is “nice” looking due to the many restrictions I have on my “game”. Good thing I don’t run a tailor shop like this in real life! I mean, whoa! I’m sure glad I pay to play for an imaginary world that gives me freedom to run my shop the way I want and give my customers many many options when it comes to picking out clothing…. Oh … wait. Nevermind.
