All of you must have heard about the vendor changes, if not, read here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=merchant&message.id=33216

A weaponsmith or armorsmith can manage with that item limit, but it's important for us tailors to have a large range of various clothes. I will might drop tailor if the system changes...

I have to agree that no crafter could operate a business with that kind of item cap.

Anything that can be done to help, NJ, just ask!!

I just really have to hope that at least the total numbers are pushed up... I do not have a huge number if items on my vendor but I know a lot of people that do stock many, many quality items for sale. I can understand not wanting those vendors with 500 stacks of 17 bone and 2000 +1 skill tapes... but it's not them that will get hurt... It will hurtthose that try to put a vendor up thatstock a wide variety of high quality merchandise... I hope it is changed

ok why is everyone whining? the vendor limit is EXACTLY what the merchant profession needed!! the only thing that ANYONE should be whining about is that master merchants are limited in the amt of vendors/items (as you have to get 3 more trees you should be rewarded with unlimited storage/vendor space)

im sorry to jump on you Hakk and this is not a flame on you.

but as a Master ArmourSmith there is no way i can keep it below 660 items, even a reasonable stocked single vender needs about 800-1000 items of various armour parts.

I earned/spentenough SP to get 6 venders up if i need em all, (got 5 in operation atm). over them 5 i must have over 2500 items in all, and i view that number as needed so my customers can choose from various armours.

If the 660 number is stuck to, they will be 90% composite and a few ubese to choose from 1 vender, there would not be any need for more than 1 vender as it would fill up so fast.

some of the ideas in the merchant changes are welcome, like getting rid of venders the player has no skill points spent in to support, and the dozens of totally empty venders that sit empty for ever, but the number limit is so low as to be insulting.

It will kill my business, i would have to restock twice a day to keep a selection up, i work 12 hours a day in RL so that is not welcome to me.

all i can say is think again please!!.

This is going to kill everyone's businesses not just the tailors. Not one of us who have master merchant can have a viable business with a limit of 110 items per vendor.

I agree with all of the vendor changes except for the item limits. SOE is just trying to get the crafters to leave like they have the fighters so that when they release JTL they can start over with all new people to screw. Their deleting our petition in the merchant forum is just a sign that we no longer matter to them.

Will I lower my prices? No

Will I rework my vendors in an attempt to make this work? Yes

Will I be able to offer the selection I do now to my loyal customers? NO

Will I cancel my accounts? Unsure atm

I am heartbroken that SOE would chose to DESTROY us just to make room for more Jedi. Let's face it, that's what's going on. There was suppose to be a cap on the number of Jedi but because they cried and whined, SOE removed the cap. They are only worried about making the people happy who want to be Jedi and forget the rest of us.

You may hate me for this but, at this point in the timeline, there weren't that many Jedi and the few still around were in hiding. There shouldn't be a large number of Jedi until after the "Return of the Jedi" and we are still in the first part, "A New Hope". They just destroyed the Death Star for crying out loud. We should be inthe begining of "The Empire Strikes Back". The Imperials should rule and the rebels should be scrabbling. There shouldn't be but a handful of Jedi at best. Instead everyone and their dewback is a Jedi. We shouldn't have to run from the Jedi until after the story line reaches "The Return of the Jedi"but obviously, we are already there. They skipped straight to that and forgot the rest.

And shall I mention the new Jedi crafters? They are producing armor and weapons with unbelievable stats and killing the regular armorsmiths and weaponsmiths. Can Jedi Tailors be far behind?

Let's face it, they are gearing the game for JEDI ONLY. They should change the title from SWG: An Empire Divided to SWG: JEDI RULE AND THE REST OF YOU DON'T

I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry, got a bit upset. Back to deleting vendors and trying to hit the new magic limit of 110 items per vendor.

well I have posted in other forums about this, so might as well post here I make over 520 items!!! and I keep all my vendors stocked well (over 7k of items on vendor) why give us a schematic that can make 1000 items if we can't sell that many??? I mean come on give us a break this will affect my income but what I can sell I mean we make over 100 type's of clothing not to mention the different color schemes, this will ruin the crafters market for sure! We need to make sure this doesn't happen or all of us will suffer!

Copied this from Eva's Needful Things site. Eva is one of the premier tailors on Radiant. Her shop is amazing. There you could find the tailored goods you needed as well as a variety of other items available from the other merchants who had vendors there. I think her post pretty much sums up what this means for tailors. I know I am closing up my shop if this goes through as are most tailors I know. For those who choose to keep the skill, tailoring will become a special order only business.

Anyway, here's Eva's post from her website (www.swgbio.com):

I'm depressed. After taking the summer off from my shop to attend to RL and my son who came home for a long overdue summer visit, I was rested and looking forward to getting back in the saddle, getting my vendors once again stocked with a fine assortment of goods and rebuilding the store. The recent announcement about vendor limits is the last straw. My shop cannot exist with only 110 items per vendor, just can't. I prided myself on being a place people could come and find what they needed and wanted, as most of you know - when not on vacation - my vendors seldom had under 500 (or more) pieces to choose from.

Is this a trial ballon - will these be the final figures? Probably - and probably not respectively but ya know this isn't the first time SOE has threatened to blow our heads off and try to make us feel better with a last minute reprieve of - ok, we'll only cut off one leg. I'm tired.

I worked hard on my shop - and it was the one I always wanted. I worked hard on this website and customer education so my customers got the finest service with the most accurate information. I'm tired.

I wish SOE well, but I will be closing up shop if they have decided that running a popular efficient storefront is harmful to their game. I'll wait to actually hit the cancel button till a final verdict - but I suspect no matter what they decide on in the end, it will still strangle my selections - therefore my business - therefore my accounts.

I've posted this on the Merchant Forum and Warcry - I do not like this "fix".

Tailors have 235 items they can make and sell. 235. You would not even be able to make 1 of each item and place it on ONE vendor even at the Master Merchant level. Please explain the logic in that to me. As a tailor, I like to make sure at least one of each item that I can make is available on my vendor at all times. I also like to make more of certain popular items in several different colors. I have 3 working vendors right now with approximately 800+ items between all of them. 1 vendor is my main clothing vendor. 1 vendor is my “augmented clothing” vendor. 1 vendor is for custom order pick-ups.

o Merchant Management 4 Get (6) Vendors, that will hold (100) items, for a total of (600) items for all vendors

I only have enough skill points for 4-0-4-4 Merchant = 600 total items for me if this “fix” goes live. 800 – 600 = 200. 200 items that I either need to delete or store until I can sell them. I only have room in my houses for 150 items max and all my houses are maxed out with spare resources and displayed clothing. So, -25 items I could sell on the bazaar; leaves me with approximately 175 items I have to just delete. Yay me!

Now that I have my inventory down to where I can now re-stock. Let’s remove my previous vendors and “re-organize”. Since I will be forced to give up my current setup and utilize all 6 vendors available to me. I will still reserve 1 vendor for Custom Orders (it’s a must).

How to do this? I have a few options available to me. I can still try to make all clothing options available and simply split the categories among the 5 vendors I have available. Let’s take a look at the categories the game has available. (doing this all from memory so bear with me) I will also point out everything that is not listed under appropriate categories.

===============================================================

Bandoliers = 6

Belts = 17

Bodysuits = 8

Bracelets = 5 (Listed under Jewelry not Clothing – Jewelry has it’s own category outside of the Clothing category and is often overlooked if at a Tailor shop looking through the Clothing category.)

Cloaks = 1

Dresses = 24 (Items that don’t really belong under this heading: Administrator’s Robe, Councilman’s Robe, Grand Healer’s Robe, Plain Robe, Plain Short Robe, Robe & Exotic Leotard) There is a category for “Robes”, why aren’t the Robes listed there?

Footwear = 14

Handwear = 9

Headwear = 13

Jackets = 23 (Items that don’t really belong under this heading: Spec Ops Duster, Dress Robe) Again with the Robe and the Duster? People, including myself, do not consider this a jacket; it is more fitting in the Cloak category.

Misc. = 10 (ALL SKIRTS and a few wookiee items, but I list those seperately.)

Necklaces = 12 (Listed under Jewelry not Clothing – Jewelry has it’s own category outside of the Clothing category and is often overlooked if at a Tailor shop looking through the Clothing category.)

Pants = 26 (Items that don’t really belong under this heading: Short Skirt, Short Wrap. Both are skirts – why can’t they be under a “Skirt” category?)

Rings = 2 (Listed under Jewelry not Clothing – Jewelry has it’s own category outside of the Clothing category and is often overlooked if at a Tailor shop looking through the Clothing category.)

Robes = 3 (Items that don’t really belong under this heading: Gunman’s Duster. ‘nuff said… why is it under Robes?)

Shirts = 29

Vests = 9

Wearable Containers = 5 (listed under Misc. à Wearable Containers – this is the Misc. category outside the Clothing category and is often overlooked if at a Tailor shop looking through the Clothing category.)

Wookiee Wear = 19 (Oh, My Bad! There is no separate Wookiee category – have fun filtering through all these categories to find what you, if you’re a wookiee, can wear!)

===============================================================

There are your 235 items. Let’s try to put some of these categories into sensible groups so we can figure out what vendors I need.

Vendor #1 – Wookiee Wear: Let’s make it easy on them (someone has to) = 19 separate items – very easy to stock this vendor to 100 items and have a good selection. Yay for Wookiees!

Vendor #2 – Accessories Vendor: Bracelets, Rings, Necklaces, Wearable Containers, Bandoliers, Gloves, Hats, Shoes. = 78 This will be a tight fit keeping a decent selection of items on it. Which means I’ll have to not stock “ugly” or unpopular items. Which, ironically enough, the ugly items are often the unpopular items. Yay for there being a butt-load of ugly items!

Vendor #3 – Pants & Shirts Vendor: Pants and Shirts only. = 55 items. Hmm.. even two of each item wouldn’t fit in the 100 item limit. Time to cut out all the “ugly” and unpopular shirts and pants… probably putting me down to actually having about 15 shirts and maybe 10 pants. New item count 25! Yay for Ugly Clothes! Now we can have a nice selection of only the items I think you should wear.

Vendor #4 – Skirts, Dresses & Robes: Oh wait, robes are all over the place – that might get confusing. Skirts, Dresses & Bodysuits: Skirts, which hopefully now with the 100 item limit no one will ever “need” to sort by category – so you can now find skirts simply by clicking on “ALL”. = 42 items. Might be a bit hard to have a nice selection due to fleshwraps and exotic leotards and well.. dresses, falling under this category – but once again, we can just leave out the ugly items and should be good to go.

Vendor #5 – Outerwear: Jackets, Cloaks, Robes, Vests: = 36. No problem keeping this vendor with a nice selection of items. Wow. Easiest vendor I’ll have to stock, besides Wookiee Wear.

Vendor #6 – Custom Orders: ‘nuff said.

Oh wait… I totally forgot a vendor for BE Clothing and Limited Schematic Items!!!
Kill the Wookiee vendor – sorry Wookiee’s it’s the nature of the beast.

Vendor #1 – Augmented Clothing: Any BE Clothing I feel like making and any limited use schematic items I have been able to get my hands on and in turn make.

*whew* I guess this “fix” isn’t so bad at all! No one will be allowed to buy ugly clothing or accessories from me unless they custom order it. I will also not be able to supply Wookiee’s with clothing with this new vendor set up, but oh well. They can always custom order. Oh wait. I don’t have the ugly items or Wookie wear on display in my “Showroom” due to the fact that my house can only hold 150 items. (235 total tailor items – 150 = 85 ugly/Wookiee items left out). Sorry for those of you out there that like to walk the “cutting edge” when it comes to fashion. You will now only be allowed to wear what I feel is “nice” looking due to the many restrictions I have on my “game”. Good thing I don’t run a tailor shop like this in real life! I mean, whoa! I’m sure glad I pay to play for an imaginary world that gives me freedom to run my shop the way I want and give my customers many many options when it comes to picking out clothing…. Oh … wait. Nevermind.

So is this Merchant Re-vamp and stock limiting the 'Big Suprise' you've been promising us tailors for months now?
