Yeah i'm venting, or i'm colorblind but i made a nice BLACK Long Formal Jacket and i've tried to make about 4 pants and 3 type of skirts and nothing is as black as the jacket, what gives?
You can really tell the diference when wearing both together is this normal?
Thanks

the imperial (long formal) jacket is about the most BLACKEST Black i have ever seen. It is really quite striking. But yeah no slacks seem to be that dark. If you are actually going for an imperial look with it i usually make grey pants instead. Some of my pilot friends however prefer white pants with a black stripe, they think that looks more Naval Uniform.
good luck ![]()

The real problem is with the different clothing textures. All the items are designed so that they look like they're made out of different materials and fabrics. The basic upshot of this is that the same color in one of the palattes can look wildly different on individual clothing items. For a good look at when black isn't black try making some high quality boots. They're the one boot that looks the closest to the most common style from the movies (thus making them quite popular) but they don't even get close to black.
It's very frustrating and always has been.

The first black most assume is black, is actually tinted with green.
The color which so many call charcoal is indeed ourblack (it is the second 'black' on full pallette) this one matches the metal (like compo and kneepads) black.
Something to keep in mind, texture changes the color.
Silk, leather, wool, cotton, lycra, metal, all add a certain hue to the items coloring
I myself have a huge wish of a smaller more noticableby different color pallatte with an option to pick textureing...
I would die for pleated skirt in silk or a revealing top in wool.

I saw this thread and thought of the High Quality boots too. And it boggles the mind because I have seen NPC Imperials standing in Theed wearing the typical grey uniform and high quality boots, but their boots are jet black! Black like the long formal jacket can be, true black. I know it has to do with textures and materials as to why colors look so different on different things. But come on, black is black.
I always feel bad telling people that something like "I can make you that outfit all black but the black on the pants will not match the black on that shirt" and so on. And for heavens sake SOE, please make one standard pallet for everything! Even wookie clothes.
I feel that most dedicated tailors will not mind the extra work of making clothes in colors they had not been able to before, if it meant truly being able to please the customers.

One of the worst things about Tailor is the color system. As you go along, you should get used to whats what, but it still sucks.

Yeah, the black mismatch is one of the worst aspects of making outfits. I had real fun matching up an outfit for the Black and White Ball at GF7 this past weekend. (Of course, I left it until the last minute and slapped something together in 10 minutes, but it's still a pain.)

Try a couple of shades to the right of black. The black is (in my oppinion) too black anyways. You fade out some of the detail on the uniform. Go for a Charcoal Grey, and it might be easier finding trousers. And even if it isn't...the uniform looks a tad better, since you can see the detail better.

If it encourages people to ask for clothes in a colour (any colour) other than Black.. this 'feature' has my full support lol.

If you use one shade lighter of black on the formal jacket, it matches pretty good with a pair of black quilted pants. The quilted pants have a pretty dark black.
